sarahbethemails 68 Posted October 10, 2015 Okay so I am a little confused here some of you after day 6 or 7 after surgery are eating purée foods and some are not why is that?
Ashlegal 525 Posted October 10, 2015 Why is it that some of use have different dietary guidelines post-op? Because NUTs and Surgeons have different plans for their patients. I never even had a pureed food stage. At day ten was I given the permission to move to soft Proteins. I too found it quite frustrating to see how different post-op care varied from person to person. I have complete and total faith in my Surgeon's plan for my weight loss and health.

SleeveandRNYchica 1,155 Posted October 11, 2015 I just had my post surgery class yesterday. Until 14 days post surgery we are on liquids. That includes shakes, ff milk, cal free beverages, vegetable juice, low fat strained Soup, sugar free popsicles, low sugar nonfat yogurt no chunks and hot cream of wheat runny. At day 15 we progress to puréed / soft diet. At that stage we can add cottage cheese, meats, fish, tofu but they don't have to be blended to a liquid. We just have to be sure it is soft and can be chewed to applesauce consistency. Every program is so different. For my program I will be on a notified diet for a total of 10 weeks. 2 weeks preop (Bariatric Advantage), 2 weeks full liquids and 6 weeks soft/puréed. Edit to add: my puréed food guideline is to add as little liquid as possible to conserve consistency. My nut recommended crockpot cooking to get the meat really tender.
