mllosing 9 Posted October 10, 2015 I'm scheduled for surgery on November 2. I am really struggling to find a Protein Drink that my stomach will tolerate. I've tried Syntrax, premier, and another I can't remember right now. I get really bad stomach cramps almost immediately after drinking. Any advice is appreciated. sbagby1960 65 Posted October 10, 2015 I had surgery on 9-3. It's almost hard to say what to do, because after surgery your sense of taste is off. I liked Premier Protein shakes before surgery, but now I have a hard time getting them down. I've tried a lot of different types of Protein, they all make me slightly nauseous. Just drink slowly. You could try the powders, but for me, they were worse.

Keep trying different kinds until you find one that works. Also check out kefir drinks and protein waters like the Isopure nocarb as alternatives.
cindyw41 761 Posted October 10, 2015 Are you allergic to Soy or whey? It sounds like a intolerance to something. You may want to ask your nut or Doctor what they recommend to the patients with allergies.
mllosing 9 Posted October 10, 2015 Thanks everyone. I'm really considering an allergy. I'm going to talk to the NUT on Monday
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted October 10, 2015 FYI if it turns out to be an allergy, check out some of the vegan Protein alternatives. Bob's Red Mill has just come out with a collection of vegan powders that have 20gms of protein. It's not as high as the traditional powders and drinks, but it may help get you through the early liquid stages. I plan to try them as I would like to cut down on the amount of dairy I consume.
