TealSister 296 Posted October 19, 2015 (edited) @@VSGAnn2014 You are absolutely right. I have been seeing a counselor (who also had WLS) for the past five years. I have changed so much in that time. However, this weekend she referred me to a therapist who specializes in eating disorders. I've been slipping at 6.5 months. Not terribly, but enough to show me that I'm not emotionally strong enough yet to beat my ED demons alone. I really appreciate Lipstick Lady's mention of confidence vs arrogance. Sometimes on this board my own insecurities are pricked by certain posters. There is definitely a fine line between coming across as arrogant vs confident. Confidence in other posters makes me feel I will succeed, where as arrogance tends to make me feel stupid and doomed to failure. It's so strange. Bottom line, OP, you are not alone! Babbs 14,681 Posted October 19, 2015 @@AlanaRN You've got to think about maintenence. How long can you maintain the way you currently are eating? If you don't feel deprived, then Kudos to you! But if you feel a bit deprived, that's really no way to live. That's the ol' DIET mentality. You've gotta live life, too. The rest of your life is a looong time! Yes I do. I'm working on it. I'm right below goal. Would like to drop a few more lbs before officially going into maintenance. How are you eating now Babbs? I know you just went into maintenance. @@AlanaRN I'm actually in the same boat you are....I'm wanting to lose a few more pounds. So I technically haven't hit maintenance quite yet. I'm still eating to lose, basically. But I've upped my calories a bit (1300) and will have some whole grain bread with a sandwich every now and then, and occasionally a treat like a cookie or alcohol. So I'm slooooowly going into maintenance mode while still trying to lose a few more. Does that make sense? The weight is not wanting to seem to come off at this point, though, so I may be done for now

I never even come close. Usually around 1100. I'm trying to add some more veggies. I consistently get over 100 g of Protein a day so I'm good in that department. Thanks for the support! VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted October 19, 2015 Babbs, I bet you're going to be surprised. Weight loss this close to your below-goal goal goes slower. But it still goes.
teebomb 6 Posted October 19, 2015 I feel a little nervous about regain but I try to stay healthy. I don't obsess about it as much. I have lost 153lbs and want to lose 20lbs more. Debbieduck4 399 Posted October 20, 2015 Thank you everyone for your responses to my post... It helps to know I'm not alone. I think for me, the feeling scared and nervous part has to do with that I finally found the answer to my very long struggle with weight and am so thankful and happy that I wonder at times if it will last. But, I am not going to focus on that... I am taking this gift I've been given and will continue to do my part by eating right, exercising, seeing my counselor, and remembering to stay diligent (as one of you said)... Life is pretty great right now!
foodfighter78 258 Posted October 21, 2015 I'm terrified of gaining weight back. I can't stop thinking about, lost 86lbs in 7 months. I'm at 21 bmi so normal weight. Now I think I'll get it all back. I feel like I can't relax and just enjoy my weight loss, I journal food every day in getting in about 1200/1400 cal a day 100 gr Protein. My next nutritionist appt in December 17th, I feel I need more guidance on how to maintain my weight.

Dub 9,922 Posted October 21, 2015 Anyone that isn't scared is kidding themselves. I'm letting that fear help drive the action plan I'll have in place for when I reach goal.
LuckyPam 5 Posted October 21, 2015 Glad to see this post as I worry all the time about regain too. I still find it very difficult to weigh myself and put it off not believing I am still losing (sleeved 4th September). So many years of disappointing weighs after all the past best intentions on diets!
Essence46 493 Posted October 21, 2015 @AvaFern "But every day I can get on my scales I have quantifiable proof that I'm not worthless anymore " This bought tears to my eyes. It really did. It took me losing weight to feel I was valuable. I am so mad, angry at myself for not loving me and thinking I was valuable before. I was amazing then but I was to depressed and ashamed to see it. I regret not loving the old me like I should.
