Recommended Posts

Getting sleeved Monday at 1:30p - 11:30a check in?

Anyone else an emotional hot mess? I think it's the lack of food from the past 2 weeks.

Aaaaaagggggghhhhhh - Just trying to stay hydrated and make it through these past couple of days.

I know! When I had knee surgery back in 2004, my check in was at 11:30a. It sucked so bad.

The morning of my surgery I have a massage, then home to shower with the special soap my doctor gave me and off to the hospital. It's about 4 miles from my house.

I'm ready for it to be here. A friend who was sleeved last November suggested smoking or vaporizing a little pot to help me sleep. I am contemplating that now.

October 14 here! Pre-op diet has been brutal, but I'm finally embracing it. I've been using zzquil periodically if I can't sleep due to excitement/nerves. Does wonders and its non-habit forming. Excited to get on with it!

I'm October 12th too! I have to be at the hospital (which is an hour away) at 5:30 for my 7am surgery. First of the day! But I'm definitely all over the place... Excited, nervous, anxious. I don't know how to feel lol. But I'm about to start packing my bag for my early 3am wake up call on Monday and it's giving me butterflies.

But good luck everyone!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
