Colleen Rothberg 13 Posted October 10, 2015 So my surgery date is Oct. 19th. I am now doing the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Not doing to bad... Can eat greek yogurt, sugar free ice pops, sugar free Jello and high Protein low sugar drinks all day long. I have been very private about who i tell- which to this point is 2 people outside my finace and daugther. I told a very ol, verydear friend who responded with some negativity. The most bothersome comment was "well you're gonna loss all your pretty hair, you might get skinny but you're gonna be BALD!" WHAT ???? Does anyone know someone who lost all their hair?? I heard if you dont take in the proper amount of protein and Vitamins you may lose some hair. This is why i didnt want to tell anyone-
Babbs 14,681 Posted October 10, 2015 Most people lose some hair. I lost 30% of mine, but it's thick so it was hardly noticeable. I think it all depends on how thick your hair is. I've seen just a few people who lost enough to have to wear extentions or hairpieces. Honestly, taking your Vitamins and getting all your protien is great, but more than likely it won't prevent Hair loss. It's really not the end of the world. I'd rather have thinner hair than be obese.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted October 10, 2015 You don't lose all your hair. Some people experience some thinning, others do not. I have a little thinning around the temples, but it's completely manageable. So yeah, some thinning isn normal, but I have yet to meet anyone who is completely bald from WLS surgery.
Elode 8,093 Posted October 10, 2015 Lol! I don't know why this made me laugh! We have a secret "bald babes" society here. You can call us the major B's! Ha! I'm totally kidding you can tell your friend to calm it on down you won't be sporting a "2007 Britney" hair style. Yes, like the girls said above you will more than likely lose some hair but I seriously doubt you will be bald. What you should do is get a bald cap, don't see her for awhile and then put it on a freak her out!!!
nilamji 22 Posted October 10, 2015 I'm 11 weeks out. I keep thinking I see a thinness, but my husband says he can't tell. But I'm ok with thinning hair to be healthy and skinny. Plus, I've heard that it's temporary and as time goes on, your hair will become thicker.
