What's wrong with our Society?

Recommended Posts

It's bad to draw attention to our enviorment--but we need to address certain topics...

*Marriages are falling apart like crazy. I can say I am a witness to that. I had a bad track record with that. 50% and in some area's up 75%.

*Cheating--it's being done so much--you almost think it's the right thing to do. I have talked to young folks--1/2 my age and they feel no remorse or any sadness or guilt for thinking it or doing it.

*Kids out of control, some attempting to Kill or Killing their Parents and other grown ups..What have we done wrong to have so many cases being focused on?

* We have an FDA saying that all of our foods are safe to eat. If you look around--in a lot crowds I have seen Women sooooo big--I am shocked. We are doing that steady thing of placing "Bovine Growth Hormones" in the meats. Chemicals we can't pronounce in our foods--so they will go a long way.

If the growth Hormone makes the Pigs, Cows, Fish and Chickens bigger--aren't we ingesting those foods too? We have little girls who are having periods at 8 and 9--but we've accepted this to be a normal thing. I went to my sons school and had my "Mouth Open". The secretary had to say--"Hey Lee"--"Earth to Mr Lee".. Those little girls you see--well there are more. I was so shocked at 10 year olds with a size 34 C breasts...Lord. I even had my sons a party...I stopped a lady at the door oh so thought...I said--this is a party for my kids--not high schoolers. She says--"But I am 11 years old". My son says--"Daddy, she goes to my school--we're both going to the 6th grade".I was just about saying--"what is wrong with these contact lenses? "Somebody cheated me" . No need to say how this young 11 yr old girl looked--so I won't.

*We now have our people sick with Diabetes, heart desease, arthiritis, gout hypertension and more. So Fat and we are eating--even though we are not hungry. Now it's emotional eating. I think it's bullS***. The food is almost like the commercials--with subliminal messages on TV and chemicals in the food that we buy--that's making us eat, eat, eat. We are now the Fattest on earth as a nation. "The Fattening of America". We must know that all of us don't have the strong fortitude to fight through this...I tried to get the Lap band done back in November 2006--they had ran out of space on the answering service..I had to wait until early December to talk to some nurses atr the clinic. There is a 90 day waiting Period just to get the Lap band at St, Francis Hospital of Memphis, TN. I had my surgical appointment set and guess what---I got a call in March for another clinic--saying they could get me in...I called them in December too..We have got to wake up. We have a nation of greed going on right in front of our noses.

* Last thing...Why are so many Poor People Over-weight or Obese? Here my take. Some of people who can afford the more pricier foods--we can do better and eat better. But when you are making $25,000 or less and have all types of responsibilities--our money goes a short way. Many folks buy cheap foods--laced with Chemicals. I must admit--I've tried a few off brands before I learned to read labels. I am shocked to know that many of the cheaper brands are such a detriment to our health. All we feel is full after a meal. Then many of the people get talked about. Saying they are lazy and tired. Of course they are--look what they are eating. Food to make the tyroid low, blood pressure high and a host of other things.

Where do we go now????:help:

Maybe we should go and get some facts,

We should also do something about the number of people who make unsubstantiated statements about topics they know nothing about.

One more thing your last paragraph beggining with "Last thing...why are so many Poor people" are you kidding, please tell me you are, did you read what you wrote. I can't beleive that you wrote that statement expecting anyone would take you seriously.

I tell you what, I got "insode" his head on the other thread, and its darn lonely in here.

Seriously bizarre. I cannot figure out if this guy is serious or not.

First he wants a Filippino wife. Now he's perving on 11 year olds. Ick.

I know around here in Detroit some of this has to do with lack of resources to buy good food. For those people who make little money and have to rely only on our poor excuse for public transportation party stores, convience stores, and fast food are much more accessable than going to a grocery store. As for off brands being worse than brand name things...well an apple is and apple no matter where you buy it or who markets it. For those who do get to a grocer it is the choices they make. The brand name tv dinner is going to be laced with much more sodium and fat than a grilled chicken breast and some brocolli.

It is about choices and making the right decision on what to do with your money. I have seen many people at the grocery store paying for food with food stamps, state aid, or WIC coupons and paying cash for a carton of cigs and a case of beer. That's not saying all poor people do this but I have seen it enough times to piss me off.

I dunno that I agree with you, TommyO. I do think that to some extent weight is a class and money issue. Money and education often do mean that people make healthier lifestyle choices. They can afford to go to gyms. They can afford to buy better quality foods and are more likely to cook using fresh produce. They are more likely to read the nutritional info on prepared food items. But money alone plays a huge role; it is much cheaper to feed your family on macaroni and cheese and hotdogs than it is to feed them chicken breast and salad. And a loaf of white bread costs a lot less than a loaf of 7 grain whole wheat.

And the more affluent and better educated do receive more social pressure from their friends to be thin. Let me explain this last statement: whenever I visit those temples of culture - museums and art galleries - I rarely see truly large people. I do, however, occasionally see them in my local Walmart and Zellers.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
