Fish on soft food died?

Recommended Posts

I had salmon last night and it was heavenly. Research shows me it's a great source of Protein and low in calories. Yay!

What other fish do y'all enjoy? Also, are fish like shrimp and crab included on soft foods or is it more like the fillets?

Shrimp was one of my "go to" foods early out. It was soft and easy to chew, and sat really well for me. I also would by crab cakes and eat them. So good!

Swai, talapia, salmon, tuna, shrimp... fish was one Protein source that never gave me a single issue, so I eat it 2-3 times a week still!

Lots of baked fish using spices and citrus, learned how to make homemade tartar sauce so I could control the fat and sugar content, make a mean pico to go as a topper or mixed into cold shrimp. Love it!

I love Tilipia. Sometimes I do it Blackened, but usually just sprinkle with some Lemon & Herb seasoning. It was one of my first meals on soft foods, and I still find it tasty and easy on the stomach.

I've been buying frozen vacuum sealed 4oz talapia fillets in a 2.5 pound bag from the store and cooking them with lemon butter and old bay and they are tasty I'm still pre-op so I can eat two fillets and its 40 grams of Protein

So far Tuna hasn't worked for me. ???? 2 bites- than the burning pain in my chest and back up it comes... The last few things I have tried while advancing my diet have not worked-- even Beans from Taco Bell (I can tolerate refried Beans at home no issues) I am afraid to try moving on anymore-- I am going to wait a few more days and try another fish perhaps? Tilapia?

I will be three weeks on Tuesday- 10/20

I don't want to be stuck With eggs and beans forever! ????????

I am in the exact same position except once I was able to eat tuna, and then tried again and it was awful. I can eat Beans (even from Taco Bell) but although I was so excited to try the fish, I'm tired of it now. :( I'm ready for real food.

@@TMG1980TMG - I haven't tried tuna yet because it always gave me indigestion before surgery. I will wait a little longer. Have you tried Tysons cooked chicken in the small 3 Oz cans or packets? It is moist and goes down well for me. I also enjoyed corned beef in the can. It looks like dog food, but I enjoyed it as well. Hope you find something you can enjoy soon.

Taco Bell uses lard in their refried Beans, or at least use to. Pork may be too harsh on your pouch right now as it is a food that is hard to digest for some ... Like me.

I have eaten scallops and cod, while on my soft food diet. I am actually going out to eat for Easter and I plan on ordering tuna tartare and branzino with cauliflower.

There are some recipes out there for fresh fish packets too. Although those do look convenient to have on hand.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
