Living at Goal weight

Recommended Posts

I'd really like to hear from more people at goal weight. I'm finding it so much harder just to accept and be in maintainence than it was to be losing.

Losing happened so quickly for me and before I new it I was at goal. I'm still not even sure if I'm at goal- keep wanting to lose a bit more. I look at my body and think yes I'm very thin but then there are spot areas that I feel like more could come off of.

I worry every day about gaining and when I do eat I feel "fat head", just heavy and fat even though I know I'm not. I track my calories every day and I really don't like coming in at maintainence even though it seems even at that I'm still losing.

This is a real challenge for me. I'm so worried about weight regain, and even more that mental feeling of having my weight and eating be out of control.

At the same time I still struggle with pain when I eat and that gets tiring.

This is why this journey is not easy. It's hard to begin it, it can be hard losing, and it's really hard at goal. It's a lifelong thing. I just hope some day to feel safe and comfortable and to find a routine and steady maintainece.

It's really hard. I'm 2 years post op and have gained back weight. Try to stay focused on healthy eating and not overeating. The creep is real and it's much harder to take it off the second time around (at least for me).

Maintaining for some people is easier for some and hard for others. It's hard for me. I have to watch what I eat very carefully or I will gain weight back.

I also have to exercise or I gain as well.

Update: I found intuitive eating and am now living happily at goal without dieting or much thought in regards to food at all.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
