Hey guys im getting pretty excited and anxious about my upcoming sleeve procedure on November 5th!!!!

My question is, What unflavored Protein powders are the best that you have tried and or use thus far?!

I have tried the Unjury and put it in homemade Jello and it was delicious! However I did notice it was there, but it doesn't bother me right now. I'm not sure if the taste will bother me AFTER the surgery, so that's why I was wondering if there was another brand of unflavored Protein should give a try!

Don't just view comment too! :D

I stuck with Unjury. I found it mixes well into warm things (so long as they aren't too hot) and I barely notice it. If you haven't tried their chicken Soup one, do it. It's my favorite - I couldn't believe it. I still resort to it if I'm in need of something a little lighter on my stomach!

If you like Unjury, I would stick with it. I use Isopure, but with all the unflavored Protein powders it's likely to be the same, it's a very subtle or slight taste but should interfere with whatever you have mixed it with.

I am a little over a week post op and the Unjury Protein is absolutely sickening to me now. Each flavor tastes so sweet that is makes me nauseated immediately. Even the premier shakes make me sick just to smell them. I think it's because I'm on the full liquid phase so everything I'm allowed is sweet (pudding, yogurt, Jello, etc.) I'm just so tired of sweet things! Yuck!

This is when unflavored protein really comes in handy. Because it doesn't have any added sweeteners you can add it to a broth or a nonchunky Soup and give your palate a bit of a break from all the sweetness. The only thing that got me through the all liquids phase was having broth or soup for dinner. I needed a savory break from all that sweet.

hi... I too cannot stand the Protein powder as Protein shakes. If I need a Protein shake - I stick to the premixed ones like Pure Protein or Premier Protein.

Now that I am 6 months out, I am finding fun in cooking again. So I use unflavored protein in many of my baked goods - like pancakes and muffins (and they are carb free too). For cooking, I find the unflavored GNC and Quest chocolate and vanilla bake really good. I found that unflavored Syntrax nectar is VERY BAD!!!! It changes the composition of everything and my poor pumpkin pancakes were a complete fail.

One more note - I recently found this mix. Can you saw awesome!!!!

I've been experimenting with baked things and unflavored Protein Powder. On The Chew they made this recipe with a waffle that had falafel type seasonings using mashed chickpeas and a little flour. I plan to do half gluten free and half Protein Powder. I've always been an experimenter in the kitchen so I'm enjoying making new concoctions.

I was initially a big fan of genpro, but they switched formulations and it doesn't dissolve like it used to. I'm into my first bottle of PipingRock.com. It dissolves well, no taste, and very inexpensive.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
