Nausea 2.5 weeks out?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'm about 2.5 weeks post-op and have suddenly started having a lot of nausea. This is the first time I've really had any nausea since surgery. My tummy just rumbles and grumbles all the time and feels upset. This morning I had a few sips of a Protein Shake and had to quickly take nausea medicine and lay back down, plastic bag by my side in case I threw up. Managed to keep it down but felt awful. Anyone else suddenly struck with nausea at this phase??

OMG YES!!!!

I am 2.5 weeks post RNY and I started experiencing nausea a few days ago and also lots of (um sorry!) diarrhea too! I tried to go back to work on Monday and it didn't work out, and I tried again yesterday and same thing.

I can't even think or look at a Premium Protein drink at the moment. The thought of them seriously gross me out now. I have to find some other Protein powder or drink to get my Protein in. I even went to the doctor today because I wanted to get some blood work done etc because that is how bad I am feeling this week! I am pretty sure I'm dehydrated too - I a still getting in my foods (barely) and my liquids but having such terrible bouts of diarrhea, I'd have to be dehydrated.

Everyone thinks that because I am experiencing these symptoms now as opposed last week when I was recovering at home, is that I went back to work too early and my body/stomach is just not ready for routine and starting with liquids and Multivitamins and food and so on and so on so early in the day. My body is still recovering and can't handle the fast paced routine quite yet. I tried to sip my glass of Water, my premium Protein Drink and had a few sips of coffee - like I did all last week but on Monday I realized I had all of that within an hour when normally it took me up to two last week.

I don't know if this is all the real reasons as to why I feel absolutely terrible this week but it's all I got to go with.

Does this make sense to you? haha sorry, I tend to ramble.

Today I pretty much went back to drinking clear fluids only. Water and G2 have been the basis of my intake today. I had a couple tablespoons of canned salmon too but that is it for today so far.

I think we just have to remember to take it very slow..

I wish you luck and hopefully it clears up for you (me too!!!)

let me know how it's going :)

take care

Heather

@@heather5565 You will feel like crap as long as you are not getting your fluids in and what are you mixing your Protein powder with? If it is with milk, you may have developed a intolerance to lactose. Many WLS patients experience lactose intolerance after surgery even with no issues pre-op.

Just remember it does get better! Hopefully soon you start to feel more "normal."

Hi you can Try ISO PURE Protein WATERS 40 grams of protein in each bottle and the come in different flavors. Also try an unflavored iso Protein Powder you can add a scoop to broths, and any mushy foods to get in your extra protein and hopefully that will help. I've seen this in almost every video that I watch, it seems to be very very popular. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you!

I literally just poured a Protein Drink that I made with milk down the drain because a few sips in and my tummy hurt! I now am trying to get down a Protein powdered drink mixed with just the powder and Water and it doesn't seem to be nearly as bad. I just can't stand the taste of protein powder. I am going to go search the stores later today to see if I can find that no flavour protein powder. I think it's called Isopure.

I really do hope this gets better because I can't imagine feeling like this forever. So far I still believe this was totally worth it and I am so ready to kick ass with weight loss and success but at this moment it feels still so far away!

Hi people! I had my surgery August 18 and have had terrible nausea the whole time. However, it's definitely my own fault because I have been failing at getting Water in throughout the day at work. I can go without water for about 5 hours and feel totally fine but then ... Outta no where I have the worst nausea. But if I remember to drink my water through the morning, I won't have it nearly as bad or at all. So for me, at 7 weeks out, it's all about the water.

Another option is to buy unsweetened Almond milk even vanilla Almond Milk Unsweetened and use that as a mix-in. You can also try to find Torani NS in a variety of flavors to add to the protein/almond milk mixture to give it more yum factor.

If you have a blender, you can pump some Torani (the same syrups used in your favorite coffee shop, just sugar free) some ice, almond milk and Protein powder to give ya a little milkshake action.

I actually prefer the Premier Protein and Atkins pre-made Protein shakes (you can find both them at Wal-Mart) then I stick them in the freezer for about 30 minutes. The colder they are the better! The Premier Protein shakes have 30 grams of Protein, 1 gram of sugar and 100 calories. They really are not that bad and a hell of a lot better than powder.

If you prefer powder look for a brand Syntrax nectar they can be found on Amazon, Vitamin Shoppe and GNC. Their chocolate truffle and vanilla bean torte are great! They also have fruity flavors and I believe unflavored kinds. They mix well and taste great.

:)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
