Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted November 12, 2015 If you aren't getting enough Protein and Water then of course you are hungry. Are you eating slowly and chewing thoroughly? Slowing down gives your stomach time to signal your brain that it is getting enough food. How often are you eating? Have you tried eating more frequently? What is your Protein goal? Mine is 100 grams, so I try to schedule out meals and Snacks throughout the day. Getting enough Fluid will help. Have you tried drinking when you first feel these hunger "pangs"? I hope you find a solution. I am glad to hear you are talking to your surgeon about this.
dlappjr 467 Posted November 12, 2015 I just went to the doctor Monday, and they stated that since I don't have any heartburn issues, it isn't my Prilosec dosage. Im just so hungry still after or actually while eating something like salmon and lentils for instance, same thing with Water, I know sometimes our thirst feels like hunger, so I make sure I drink Water, but still feel hungry. The doctor says I need to try and get 1100 cal in per day which I haven't been previously. He says that the body will continue to have hunger pains if im not meeting the caloric requirements. Has anyone else had any issues with eating Protein rich foods, and drinking water constantly but still feeling hunger pangs? I have had a struggle with getting enough water since the second or third week post op. I was trying to drink as much water as I could and still not getting 64oz. I have since adjusted my way of taking in fluids. I found bottles or Protein2o, flavored water with Protein in it and I also use Isopure. Between those 2 and actual water, 0 cal Vitamin water or 0 cal Powerade, I am able to hit my 64oz and then some. Its just not all water. If I had to guess, about 32oz is from actual water throughout the day. The rest is from other fluids. Maybe that might help?
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted November 12, 2015 Unless your doctor specifically says so, it's fluids not Water. I use 1 20 ounce bottle of Isopure split into 4 parts & mixed with water in my 24 ounce water bottle. So I'm actually drinking 52 ounces of water and 20 ounces of Isopure in addition to any fluids I may get from tea, coffee or Soup. The goal is to not get dehydrated, flush your kidneys & help your bowels function better. Since the Isopure also contains 40 gems of Protein it helps me hit my protein goal as well. I also found that eating more dense foods helped. For example oatmeal or grits for Breakfast stuck with me more even if it was only a quarter cup. Lentil soup with veg crumbles was more filling than a veg soup. Adding yogurt to my Protein Shake & even a tbsp of almond butter. In small quantities these foods stuck with me better.
