Eating too much, still hungry, stalled

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm new to this group and so glad I found you all. I was recently sleeved on Aug.31, 2015 and let's just say I thought I was alone. I don't' know why I still feel hungry within maybe 15 mins after eating something, or having a Protein Shake. I thought having the surgery would always make me feel super full to the max, and that maybe I'd have to remind myself to eat. I've only lost 11lbs since surgery, I could stand to work out more ( I just started back) but I just wanted to know if anyone else felt like me. I know a lot of this are just habits that need to be broken, like eating when bored, but I really feel hunger pangs! its so weird, I'm scared that if I'm eating too much my sleeve wont work ughhhh,.....I don't know you guys....really feeling regretful, and discouraged....please help!

well you just had your surgery and hunger is still going to be an issue time to time. Also have you spoken to your surgeon about you having acid reflux problems? I was experiencing this at first and thought I shouldn't be this hungry and once I started on prilosec I was fine. Over time you will learn the difference between real hunger, head hunger, boredom and acid issues. Don't fret. Its ok to feel hungry you won't die believe me. Just occupy your mind and your time. Stay stop and you will over come all these lil issue. Most of us have! Good luck!

Are you taking a PPI for your acid? And what are you eating? Are you making sure you're always eating Protein first and then veggies if you have room? Are you staying away from bread, crackers, sugar and the like? Those cause cravings. If you keep your little sleeve full of good, dense protien, it should keep you fuller longer. Are you making sure you're getting all your fluids in, also? Between protien and fluids, you really shouldn't be too hungry at this point if you're keeping your sleeve filled with both....

Hi girls, Yes, I do take a Prilosec everyday and have had no issues with food coming up. Im trying my best to eat as much Protein as I can , hence my frustrations.....I try to get liquids in but not has much since I try to eat most of my Protein instead of drink it. I'm also in need of some really quick easy recipes because I cant cook, and I keep eating the same things like Beans and chicken and salmon over and over....should I just drink all through the day even though im not supposed to eat and drink at the same times? I just don't know how to get as much Fluid in. Sorry for rambling, this is how quickly my thoughts come and how scared and frustrated I am..just want to make sure im doing the right things. Thank you you any advice in advance.

The goal of this surgery is not to feel full to the max. It's to relearn how to eat until you are sated, not overstuffed and full. I would look at the dosage & time of day you are taking the prilosec. It may need to be adjusted. When I was first sleeved I was taking my omeprazole (generic prilosec) in the morning since I didn't have any issues with acid. Once I transitioned to soft foods I noticed I would feel full in the early evenings. Occasionally I would get this stuck feeling in my chest. Reading up I realized I needed to take my PPI around 2 -3 ish and eventually I upped the dosage from 20 mgs to 40. That made all the difference in the world. I could eat what I was supposed to and I no longer had that weird full feeling.

As for eating and drinking you need to do whatever it is to get in ALL your Protein. Early on I find that a combo of eating and drinking Proteins helps. I started each day with a Protein shake that I would make with FAGE 0% greek yogurt, Protein powder and Water served over ice. This was helpful to get a big does of Protein and fluids at the beginning of the day. My shakes came in at 12 - 14 ounce and 31 -38 gms of protein. The rest of the day I could coast. Eat what foods I could tolerate and sip on Water. Eventually I was able to work my way up to getting my 64 ounces of fluids and 100gms or more of protein.

I have lost 40 pounds since surgery August 24th...until the last 2 weeks!!!! UGGGGG, Been on a stall since. Yes I am eating more, but cant fet fluids in/ Tallked to a professional trainer who explained the fat gets released through urine and hence the 64 ounces of water/fluids in every day. But come on 800-950 calories a day you would think that would be enough to keep losing plus walking evry day...frustrated as well. Cannot cannot get more than 3 glasses in per day, cannot.

Um, no. That's not how it works. It's true, however, that the byproduct of burning calories is carbon dioxide and Water. Fat doesn't get "released", it gets burned for fuel when you burn off more calores than you take in.

Stalls happen. Change something. You actually might try eating a bit more, changing what you eat, change your workout. You do need to get your Fluid in, especially if you are getting your Protein in, in part to keep the kidneys in shape so they can process the extra Water and metabolites that are the byproduct of burning fat. You don't have to drink plain water, herbal tea, broth (watch the sodium here), flavored waters (without added sugar), it all counts.

Just cant get enough Water in each day. I really don't like drinking Water

Wow! That is awfully low. You need to get creative and try to at least double that. Add ins, crystal like, infusion bottle. Do whatever it takes.

@@2goldengirl um yes, fat gets distributed away from our body from sweat and urine......by expressing the extra calories, BURNING it where? Just had an hour talk with my physian....hence the 64 - 80 ounces of Water per day.....................

BURNING it where?

Look up the Krebs cycle - if you don't like the term "burn", you can use the term "metabolize". Fat is metabolized on a cellular level by the process of oxidation via the Krebs cycle, the end products of which are CO2 and H20 - Carbon dioxide (which you exhale) and Water (which is excreted via sweat and urine).

Try Popsicles, freeze Protein shake in ice trays, g2, you can do this.

I just went to the doctor Monday, and they stated that since I don't have any heartburn issues, it isn't my Prilosec dosage. Im just so hungry still after or actually while eating something like salmon and lentils for instance, same thing with Water, I know sometimes our thirst feels like hunger, so I make sure I drink water, but still feel hungry. The doctor says I need to try and get 1100 cal in per day which I haven't been previously. He says that the body will continue to have hunger pains if im not meeting the caloric requirements. Has anyone else had any issues with eating Protein rich foods, and drinking water constantly but still feeling hunger pangs?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
