Recommended Posts

I am so excited!!!!!!!!! I finally got the call this morning that my insurance approved me! I can hardly believe it! It looks like I will probably have my surgery in August. I am so anxious:clap2:, elated, nervous and scared out of my mind! I just had to tell you all! Thanks for all your support while I was waiting. It's really gonna happen!

Friday the 13th isn't bad luck anymore! It has been one of the best days of my life!

WEIGH to go Lori!

How long did it take to get approval? Were you rejected at all???

I'm real curious to find out how our insurance will cover... I go in Tuesday for my "screening" and feel so prepared with questions and knowledge - thanks to LBT!!!

My stuff was sent on June 18, but was not entered into there "system" until July 5. So it took 8 days from then. I called a bugged them a couple times a week. I was never rejected. My insurance is gonna pay for all but $500-$600 of it. They do not know the exact number yet.

I am still in shock today. I have been telling some of my friends about what is going on and they are all pretty positive. I will need their support through this. This site is a wonderful source of information and support. It is fantastic!!!!

That is so wonderful! I hope things go as smoothly for me... DH is willing to pay... but if insurance will kick in, why not!

Everytime I eat now, I think how it is all going to change. It is kind of nice to have this "time" to think about it and get mentally ready... After Tuesday, I'll have a plan in action to start SOMETHING until surgery can be scheduled... If insurance is going to require me to have a proven history of "trying" (how stupid is that?), I didn't want to have lost pounds in vain (i.e. not recorded by my dr. office)... so I'm not doing anything special right now...

Katie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
