Has anyone tried any of the high Protein pastas? I bought some black bean Pasta, and it says that it has 25 grams of protein for two ounces. I am three months out and would love a small serving of pasta. Is this worth doing, or is this way madness?

Does it fit into you daily requirements? Can you have it and still make your goals?

Have you tried making zucchini noodles?

Wow, I just googled that! It has 17 g carbs... but 12 of those are from Fiber. For 25 g Protein that is actually pretty darn good. I noticed it only has 2 ingredients: organic Black Beans, Water. I really like that too. I wonder what it tastes like? It does have great reviews on Amazon... I may have to try this.

I have not tried it yet. It's been sitting on the shelf for a few weeks while I just stare at it. I will report back after I try it--perhaps this weekend.

I'm curious too, actually!

And I agree with @@OutsideMatchInside, have you tried zucchini noodles first for.your Pasta fix? They are really good!

I just looked that Pasta up. It's made with vegetarian ingredients (besides egg whites). The stats aren't bad at all, actually. Now if it doesn't taste like cardboard, they may be a winner! Otherwise I'll stick to my zucchini pasta!

The zucchini noodles are soo good, I really wish I tried them sooner. I am not a Pasta person at all, unless it is fresh hand made Pasta. So it isn't something I crave. Still I feel like black Beans are going to have a hard time filling the slot for anyone.

@Babbs@OutsideMatchInside I am also a big fan of zucchini noodles. I bought a Veggetti at Bed,Bath & Beyond just to make them. So good with Pasta sauce!

I had the black bean spaghetti and it was surprising good. I had it with a little marinara sauce. Didn't have a strong bean flavor which is good for me because I am not a fan of Beans.

**I am pre-op**

I've had the mung bean flavor but now its made with edamame & mung bean. I have the black bean in the kitchen but haven't made it yet. So far I find them quite tasty.

@marandogs That sounds good. Is that on the 'Pasta aisle". I've never heard or seen that before. Let me know how it is.

I've had the chickpea Pasta and I couldn't tell the difference between the whole wheat pasta I used to eat. It also has a crazy amount of Protein in it. Only had it once though because I just don't crave pasta anymore.

I like the edamame Pasta I got from costco. Tastes pretty similar to pasta, and has 24 G Protein per 2 oz. I can only eat about half an ounce, but it's a fun way to get some veggies in.

I am eating this Explore Asian Protein Pasta made from Beans as well. It is awesome. The garbonzo bean spaghetti tastes exactly like ... Wait for it...spaghetti. I can also testify that the fiber is for real. You will not be constipated if you eat this with some bolognese (meat) sauce. I use both the zucchini noodles and the explore Asian pasta with my meat sauce - it's protein veg and eating real food like a normal person all rolled into one. I have to admit that it tastes so good I am still a little skeptical but I can tell you that the fiber is for real.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
