Has anyone tried any of the high Protein pastas? I bought some black bean Pasta, and it says that it has 25 grams of protein for two ounces. I am three months out and would love a small serving of pasta. Is this worth doing, or is this way madness?

I had them pre-op as my mom has been on Atkins for quite some time, and I love them. Especially because I don't like mushy noodles, the texture is perfect to me. I prefer them over the shiratoki noodles, but those are good also. Especially with spaghetti or cream sauce, not sure if you can have cream sauce but I had it pre-op and it was excellent.

I had the black bean for dinner last night with a little marinara sauce and a bit of chopped broccoli. Very tasty. I guess I'll try the garbanzo flavor next.

I am eating this Explore Asian Protein Pasta made from Beans as well. It is awesome. The garbonzo bean spaghetti tastes exactly like ... Wait for it...spaghetti. I can also testify that the Fiber is for real. You will not be constipated if you eat this with some bolognese (meat) sauce. I use both the zucchini noodles and the explore Asian pasta with my meat sauce - it's protein veg and eating real food like a normal person all rolled into one. I have to admit that it tastes so good I am still a little skeptical but I can tell you that the fiber is for real.

. Where do you get the garbanzo bean pasta? I googled it and could not find this particular flavor. Thanks so much!!

After it is spiraled I just do a quick sautee in a skillet.

@@stacy1204 my mistake they are not garbonzo Beans they are soybeans. It is soybean spaghetti, but in this case the color on the picture is of beige looking soy nuts, rather than green edamme.

Sorry for my mistake. But its really yummo.

Edamame and soy Beans are the same thing. I just checked the website. Apparently the edamame Pasta is still available.

Just saw the link to the online site. I will have to wait until I am ready to order several things so the shipping charges will be waved. Wish I could find locally.

My local Whole Foods carries it. You could buy 1 pack and see if you like it before investing in a larger shipment online

I've had the Explore Asian soybean spaghetti, and Modern Table's lentil rotini. I liked them both and plan to have them again and try the other flavors. They fit into my protein/carb/calorie limits.

I've seen a lot of people say that they don't crave Pasta ever again after surgery, but for me, that has not been the case... so I feel like these are reasonable alternatives.

I do not like zucchini, and the thought of zucchini noodles makes me queasy.

I've had both the soybean and the black bean, as well as the shiratoki noodles and they are all good. My favorite are the black bean, as the texture is the most "al dente" to me and the shape of the noodles is similar to spaghetti. If I recall, the soybean noodles were similar to fettuccine. But considering we're not supposed to have real Pasta for quite some time, they are all great substitutes and good ways to get extra Protein in.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
