I don't even know where to begin with this whole mess! All I know is I need help and fast!

I'm almost 4 months post op and I'm nauseous 24/7 and can't eat anything.. Now I'm starting to have nightmares about food I know I can't have! Now I'm losing sleep over this.. I'm very weak and have no energy at all.. I'm worn down all the time.. I'm ashamed to say this but I haven't been taking my Vitamins like I should.. There's just so many to remember and I've been so sick at my stomach that I can barely keep anything down.. I'm lucky if I can keep my Water down.. I go today for a EGD test.. I'm really scared that I'm never gonna get back to feeling good again.. I just hope I don't regret this whole surgery

I hope the EGD test uncovers the problem for you. That can't be any fun at all and must be very frustrating. Sorry you are going through this. Of course, you already know this, but because you can't eat, it is even more important to take those vitamins! It won't help with the nausea and pain but should hopefully keep you healthier in other ways.

Take care and best of luck

Some patients develop strictures which cause the symptoms you are describing. One of the ways to detect this problem is with an EGD test. So it looks like you are following the right path.

? Surgery 1999? Did you have a revision 4 months ago? Anyway; first take a deep breath. Don't worry about the Vitamins right now. If you're that nauseated, they probably wouldn't stay down anyway. You need to fix that first. LATER, when you're better, just get yourself a pill minder box; 7 days with four compartments for each day; Walgreens or CVS; helps you organize the menagerie. Re. dreams; we've probably all had them. My first night of surgery, I dreamt about THE most perfectly grilled cheese sandwich with cheese and tomatoes all the way to the edges! And that was just the first night!! After the EGD, you'll have an answer and the Dr. should have a plan. Trust me, long term, you won't regret this. These bumps are just part of the adventure. Hang in there and update after your procedure.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
