tcrehm 101 Posted October 7, 2015 How long did it take for you to be able to sleep on your stomach again after your surgery? (I'm looking for those who are total wimps when it comes to pain as those like my husband who has a high tolerance for pain are not representative of wimps like me!) MichJohn77 39 Posted October 7, 2015 I slept semi stomach at a week. Propped up pillows around me and took pain meds before bed. I wasn't completely on my tummy but it felt great to be in my bed and not a recliner lol
MichJohn77 39 Posted October 7, 2015 I will also mention that at 3 weeks out I was completely on my stomach. It was sore but I had too! Revision was 8/31/
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted October 7, 2015 The 4th night. I rolled over by accident, it didn't hurt, so I stayed that way. It felt so good. It helped with the gas and the pressure. And I was finally able to get a full nights sleep which helped me feel much better the next day.

FrankyG 1,450 Posted October 7, 2015 About 3-5 nights in. I slept on my side with pillows and blankets piled up until then. Had pretty much no pain, but was worried about turning over and stretching my stitches!
OKCPirate 5,323 Posted October 7, 2015 Put a pillow between my legs to keep it from happening, it didn't
Trinn 139 Posted October 8, 2015 Two weeks and some, but it would make me sore if I did it all night. Now I'm 5 weeks out and I can do it without problem.
Namaste6 82 Posted October 8, 2015 I didn't even consider this!! I am a stomach sleeper =\ How long did you guys sleep in a recliner, if you did?
tcrehm 101 Posted October 8, 2015 I'm at two weeks one day and still in the recliner. I asked at the doctor's office on Tues and they said most people are in the recliner for about 4 weeks, but based on the responses here, it looks like most are back in their bed on their stomach much quicker. Trinn 139 Posted October 8, 2015 I never slept in a recliner. The first week or so, I slept like I did in the hospital the first night -- on my back, with many pillows supporting my knees and arms, so I wouldn't roll over. After that, I started rolling a bit to the side, but it would be uncomfortable and woke me up. By the second week, I was sleeping on my side, and sometimes rolling over onto my stomach. One thing though. Like many folks, I experienced a particular painful feeling in my left side for a while -- it seems to be related to the dissolving stitches or the incisions or something. That made turning over very uncomfortable, if it did it by turning towards my left side. That has now gone away, and I don't have it any more, at 5 weeks out. Shainadelphia 69 Posted October 8, 2015 I am also a stomach sleeper! It's funny because between weeks 2-3 some nights were fine and then some still hurt. But now, 3 weeks out, it's totally fine. The one thing I would say though is to make sure it's been at least an hour or so since you've eaten. Otherwise it might hurt. Sweet dreams!
