I'm 5 weeks out. I'm never hungry. I have to remind myself to eat. I get all my fluids and Protein (shakes) in. When I make myself food, I eat about 5 tiny bites and that's it. I couldn't care less about food. Is this normal?

Yes. I went through a period where I had no interest in food and just ate because I needed to.

I did too and that lasted about 6 months. Not so much anymore. I still can't eat much so it's working but I do get hungry now.

Yes, went whole days without eating if I was busy. I had to think about it.

I am 11 weeks out on Thursday and apart from the few 'head hunger' episodes I had early on, I have never felt hungry. I have to plan my work day out and keep an alarm on reminding me to eat or I would just carry on working and forget.

Even seeing other people eating doesn't bother me. I know this will change in time but I am LOVING it right now :)

What are you eating? Maybe I need some new things to try.

I'm a year out so I can eat pretty much anything. I will say the no appetite days were mostly Protein Shakes & Soup

Isn't it a strange feeling? Never thought I would "not be hungry"

I just started to get hungry again - at 6 months out. For the first 6 months I ate on a schedule otherwise I would not eat at all.

One thing to note - if I thought I was hungry before I really was not - that was my "head" telling me it's noon and I should eat. So start to learn how your body is now with the pouch. Head hunger is different than pouch hunger. This took be about a month or two to learn the difference.

I've got some hunger back at 7 weeks, (and no it's not reflux or thirst or head hunger for those who trot out that reply every time someone mentions they feel hunger :)

It's slowly come on recently, it's certainly not as strong as pre op but if i miss a meal or am a few hours late for one I feel some genuine hunger, it's manageable and doesn't take a lot to satisfy I can live with it I just preferred it a few weeks ago when there was nothing :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
