Elode 8,093 Posted October 6, 2015 @@Sajijoma I always had a boyfriend so the only time I really ever had a "date" was after I had talked to this guy on the phone for hours. A mutual friend of ours thought we would like each other so he called after a few weeks and we talked for days. The first night I ever met him I had him come to my besties house. I was a single mom at the time so there was no way some strange man was going to know where I lived. He came over dressed in tight-ish pants, round glasses, a black turtle neck, with checkard shoes. He sat on the couch with his legs crossed. My friend Christina was like 'ummm no, I'm pretty sure he's gay". Nice but gay. I was nice. He drove in a ice storm to come meet me. After about an hour of chatting he left. I didn't think I would ever talk to him again after that.....5 years later we got married! It definanly wasn't "love at first sight" but we connected on all other levels. He got me with his thoughtfulness and communication skills. Now 8 years later I just wish he'd shut the hell up. Oh and we got rid of those clothes....except for the shoes, they are tokens in my closet.

Elode 8,093 Posted October 6, 2015 @@OKCPirate True! He's lucky he had a good yapper. Then on our fist "official" date he insisted I bring my girls to the movies with us. They sat right between us lol! He took us to dinner, played with them at the arcade and bought them all the junk they wanted at the movies. He pretty much suckered me in! OKCPirate 5,323 Posted October 7, 2015 @@Sajijoma No kidding, my daughter and I have a 30 day rule...she only meets someone if I have been dating someone exclusively for 30 days. It takes guts and commitment to go out with someone's kids.
pink dahlia 2,513 Posted October 7, 2015 Okcpirate, what is wrong with these women you meet ? Are they blind ? You seem pretty nice and normal ( , you don't have to answer this, ) what are your hobbies, interests, likes and dislikes ? We need to find you a nice lady friend !! Again, im happily married, but I listen to all these stories and think "we have nice girls here who attract the losers, and nice guys who cant meet a normal girl , " so somewhere here, somebody's got to know who ,where and why we can send a nice lady your way !! I believe in karma !!
Babbs 14,681 Posted October 7, 2015 I sure am glad I don't have to worry about dating after being with the same guy for 28 years (we were 20 when we met, so not a lot of dating history for either of us)! Especially at my age. Some of your stories are hilarious but sad seeing some of the pickens out there! Funny story about me and my husband. He worked with my sister who is 5 years older than me, and used to flirt with her shamelessly. Because he was so much younger than her and not her type, she suggested he take me out on a date since I was new in town and didn't know a lot of people. So we met on a blind date set up by my sister. And the rest is history....

Bean80128 80 Posted October 7, 2015 I fell a little guilty laughing at these tales of woe! Thank you GOD for putting my husband in my path 25 years ago! ladivaluz806 87 Posted October 7, 2015 Ah.... so much to look forward to in the dating world... I dont do online dating, I have in the past and it was horrible. I'll just hold out for the good old fashioned way . just meeting people. I know thats not very ambitious but I also am in no rush. Love the stories though lol I have a fair share as well! OKCPirate 5,323 Posted October 7, 2015 @@Bean80128 - Re-entering the dating world after a 20+ absence has been a mind blowing experience and certainly not for the faint of heart. And many things have changed, esp. with personal grooming (and we'll just leave it right there). But I have a good sense of humor and adventure. I just received a very nice compliment from a woman who I was very interested in but I realized after a week that she really had left over issues with her ex and was projecting them on me, so I took her out to lunch and explained why we needed to break up. She wrote me after a week to let me know that on reflection she thought I was correct, and thanked me for teaching her to value herself again. So dating can be a positive for others if you do it right.
roundisashape 712 Posted October 7, 2015 These are incredible! So far I've had the guy who showed up to dinner with no teeth and one who still lived with his mom (he was almost 40) who were the BETTER dates. Another took me on a hike but spent the whole time talking about his ex, then left me standing in the parking lot looking for my keys. One lived in his ex-wife's basement, smelled like cheese, and drove around the neighborhood screaming profanity at people (I lied and said I lived close by then walked almost 3 miles home late at night). The last one takes the cake, though. He said he thought he might be facing impending homelessness, and my mouth engaged before my brain and said, "well, if you can't find something fast enough, you can spend a few days on my couch until you find something else" (because who on earth could say, "gee, sorry" and watch someone sleep in a tent, y'know?). 6 days later he showed up with all his stuff, and now he won't leave...it's been almost a month. When I figure out what to do with him, I'm going to stop dating for a while, lol.
RetroGirl 210 Posted October 7, 2015 When I was 22 I went on a date with a pretty cool guy whom I met at a party. We had a coffee that turned to be wine and after that we went for a walk for about an hour. It was freezing and started snowing, so I invited him over to my place – nothing more intended. The date was actually going well, he seemed interested and I was enjoying the night. Until… We got to my place and after 10 minutes my flatmate (male) came home. It turned out they were good friends in middle school and they immediately started to act like they were still 12 or 13… Suddenly it seemed I was no longer in the room –the guys were just having their bro-get-together, laughing like pigs/ wild donkeys. I sat there for about 30-40 minutes (I spent the first 5 minutes kicking my clueless friend under the table) and got bored to death, so I actually laid down on the couch and fell asleep from the winter wine combination. The guys got drunk and judging by the sounds they both threw up all the beer they had plus some internal organs and a few pieces of soul. Disgusting. I almost tripped over one of them in the dark when I woke up in the middle of the night to get some Water. Anyway, I met the guy couple of days later and he said something like ‘Oh I had a great time’. I laughed.
