Pre-op I was always regular. I would go at least 2 - 3 times a day. The first month post-op they weren't as "robust" as they were pre-op but Once I went on day 5 I had 1 BM a day. Once I transitioned to soft foods, I was going ~ 2 times a day. A year out I'm back to normal. I am a vegetarian and eat as clean as possible. The lack of processed foods means it take my body less time to break down food, so depending on what I eat I go 1 -3 every day.

15 months out. I take a stool softener every day along with my Vitamins. It makes me life so much easier.

This is what I do as well. I'm taking a softener along with a Fiber supplement everyday with my Vitamins.

I took dulcolax this am and went in the afternoon. I think I'll take it for a while. I'm just scared I'll get dependent on it. Anyone know of any fruits aside of prunes that will make you go to the bathroom?

Depending on your body apples, cherries, peaches & apricots. Other foods that work for me: veg wise, cooked spinach and any dark green raw veg like arugula, romaine, kale, or spinach. Black Beans also keep me regular. Really it's just getting good doses of fiber and roughage along with plenty of Water.< /p>

Be careful with those Fiber powders. Some poster have reported feeling bloated from them. If you want something natural to add, I would look into psyllium or flax powder.

I just had a horrible bout with Constipation. My doc recommends 2 Colace (sp?) a day until regular then go down to 1 a day. Also to add fiber to the diet. Hopefully this helps, I am trying it now.

I have used ExLax a few times and find it works miraculously. I have read some comments that suggests it is not good for you to use it (and I would like to understand that) but it works when nothing else does. Plus, the chocolate version is surprisingly yummy.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
