I'm on my 4th week post-op and I'm definitely having a hard time getting in the Protein and the Water. With the protein, I think it's that I just simply can't stomach the idea of doing shakes, I'm not sure why. They don't taste bad, it just makes me sick to think of doing them. Today I'm doing the powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup which is fine. I try to put unflavored in my food sometimes but there is only so much I can put in when I'm only eating an ounce or 2 of food. Sigh.

With water. I don't know how to get in enough water, and believe me i WANT more water, when I have to sip it all day. Also when it takes me forever to eat then I have to wait a 1/2 hour to drink and then if i forget to drink water then I get hungry and i can't seem to get in more than 12 oz of water a day. I mean i do popsicles too but I feel thirsty. Any suggestions?

I am about 5 weeks post-op and also have grown tired of Protein shakes and powders. I have tried to grow my list of foods with Protein and eat them instead of shakes. Here are some of my current protein foods:

- Salmon

- Tunafish

- Hummus

- eggs

- Greek Yogurt

- Scallops

- String cheese

- Slow Cooked chicken, Pork, Beef

I agree that it is tough to meet the Water goals when you stick to the 30/30 rule. One thing that helps me is to have a glass/mug of crystal light at the ready, so 30 minutes after a meal it is there to remind me to drink.

Try the Protein Drinks. You can dilute them with Water so you are getting in both your Protein and water which counts towards your fluid goals. Otherwise just keep trying ti hit your goals. It sometimes takes a while to build up to hitting those goals.

I use a small bubba, 12 oz, that I have with me at all times. I needed something that keeps it really cold and this works.

I to am tired of my drinks and don't know how to get my Proteins in for the day. Would you be able to tell how much Protein do we get when we eat each of the listed foods?

To get the amount of Protein in foods I simply do a Google search. For example "How much protein in salmon?". Usually an answer appears from the USDA site and then I have to adjust for my portion size. Salmon shows as 17grams for 3oz.

Try Isopure clear fruit flavored Protein drinks. I have to Water them down, or they are too sweet for me, but otherwise they remind me of kool-aid. I'll drink half of one (for 20 G protein) with Water when I need a Protein boost. It's a nice change from the shakes, and you are getting protein and plenty of fluids.

I'm actually drinking the apple Isopure drink right now, though I don't love them, they are not refreshing somehow and all I want is refreshing drinks.< /p>

Vitamin Water zero rise orange is my go to liquid and it has some potassium which is otherwise hard to come by.

I feel you. My nurse told me to get 64 oz to feel good, but getting 40 will keep me out of the hospital. So I force myself to get at least 40, but very often don't get much more than that. I like Water too, it just feels like a chore to have to drink so slowly.

An easy way to get your Protein in is to use GENEPRO protein powder. 30gm per tbsp! Tasteless and mixes with hot or cold. I buy mine on Amazon.< /p>

I had surgery on Sept 25 and was discharged on Sun Sept 27 from having gastric sleeve surgery. I am having a real hard time drinking Water, which I love, and getting in my Proteins. I am on a pureed diet and hate all pureed food!! I am getting only 32 ozs of Water and maybe if I am lucky 30 grams of Protein a day. What do I do?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
