Soxgirl 32 Posted October 6, 2015 Ok so I've gone to my nutritionist appointments and have talked with my surgeon and I'm about nine days from surgery. I have not been told by either of them to go completely sugar free, but almost everything I read is sugar free. I have never drank diet soda and I don't like sugar free, I think I have an intolerance to the chemicals because anytime I do eat or drink it I get terrible headaches. I have no problem drinking Water now and would rather infuse with fresh fruit or mint if ok, but do you have to be sugar free?
RILEYSMOM22 344 Posted October 6, 2015 I was told to avoid carbs and most artificial sweeteners. I drink plain Water most of the time and the only artificial sweeterner I use is stevia or occasionally sucralose.
Proud2BMe 1,016 Posted October 6, 2015 Just plain Water. Absolutely no sugary beverages. I would avoid fruit Water because fructose in fruit is bad. I was reading something yesterday about how fructose cause more weight gain than sucrose (table sugar).
rnsamantha 352 Posted October 6, 2015 I was allowed sugar free substitutes ie Crystal light etc during the preop phase and 1st 4 weeks postop, but after that my surgeon advised limiting artificial sweeteners to a maximum of one serving per day because they actually stimulate appetite which is counterproductive.
