@@twinmomC I guess you could try the lil footstool but the squatty potty has your feet positioned at each side with your knees above, putting you in the squatting position.

Ahaa... I see. What a funny looking contraption. Not a conversation I want to have with company. What we won't do in a time of need. Thanks beachgal! :)

at three month post op i am using psyllium Fiber and ground chia seeds. 80-96 oz fluids every day(that takes some doing!) the 3 "F's", fiber, Fluid, and fitness. the more you move the more you will"move". in months one and two it was not unusual for me to go 4-5 days w/o bm. very unnerving but this too shall pass! (sorry)

I use colace (stool softeners) they help and are non-addictive like senokot or lactulose.

I've had (for lack of a better way of putting it) ass problems for years. In fact it is familial, both my children required a very carefully worked out prune juice additive to their bottles and food for several years before they were able to go on w/o it. My niece (From my sister) required three surgeries to remove broken parts of her intestines (look up hirschsprung disease) my mother has been plugged up since she was a little girl. I was taking a lot of different meds prior to surgery, and my Doctor and I found that Senna Lax 8.6mg 2 pills am 2 pills pm kept me pretty regular, I also have a standing prescription for Miralax (prescription strength) that I take if I go 2 or more day w/o a BM, if I go another 2 days, I add colace, and between the three, I could pass a large rock.

Post op. No more Senna...... Miralax, Miralax, Miralax. Oh and 100+ oz of Water a day. My Surgeon understood my ass was going to be an issue before the surgery, and it has not failed to disappoint. I was at my two week post op yesterday, and we had an entire conversation about my ass. Actually, even more effective than Miralax is Isopure Carb Free. My body H-A-T-E-S that stuff. One shake of that before bed and by am, it's a rush to the bathroom where out it goes, there is no mistaking the scent, it's the Isopure. liquid Colace, is w/o a doubt the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted. In fact the only times I have vomited post op are after taking that stuff. Perhaps it's the brand. I don't know. Surgeon advised Miralax every day, until I get a handle on this, then we can start cutting back until we find a balance.

Just saw this. Yes... I had problems prior and life-long as well. I won't tell you the horrors I have endured a few times in the last few weeks, but let's just say it hasn't been pretty. I have to watch the carbs and sugar (obviously), but last night did a half serving of prune juice before bed and had my FIRST(non assisted) movement today in 8 weeks. Yeee Haaa :) I have developed another complication in the upper GI that may require more surgery to fix. I am not looking forward to starting over at all. Thanks for the replies. It helps knowing that others are experiencing some of the same things. :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
