Hair Coloring Question

Recommended Posts

Ok, quick stats - 7 weeks post op. Eating Solid Foods. Getting in Protein and Water (well a little light on water lately but working on it)

So here's the question. I have noticed my hair start to shed more than usual. I have very long, thick hair. I knew it was going to fall out and am prepared for it, however I have a hair appointment the end of October where I go in and get my usual color and highlights. Is the bleach they use going to make my hair fall out more? Is it going to really damage it? If so what about just coloring it? I can go dark for the winter months but just need to be prepared.

Also - prior to surgery I have a thing going on with my stylist where we are growing my hair down to my butt. It's something I have always wanted to do and she says I have the perfect hair for it. If it gets too bad how do I explain to her what happened without telling her about surgery?

Oh trust me, she will know something is up - her more than anything. Why not tell her? My guy is like a friend so he was one of the first people I told. I have had mine colored several times since surgery. It didn't make it worse necessarily (but I color not bleach). I would recommend you to tell so you can get appropriate advice on your hair.

I would not go darker. I know most people do for the fall/winter butttt, I notice bald spots more on darker hair. With the bleach, your hair is more dense and it wont look as bad. I know you said you live in a small town and dont want your business spread around. I would say tell her but most beauticians love to gossip. How many people do you know go to your stylist? If none, tell her IF she asks and ask her not to put your business out there. If she doesnt ask, dont tell.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
