Uuuugh I hate staying the hospital. I've been there for 8 days in a row before so this is considerably less. I just hate it so much. Just slice me open, sew me up and send me home to my nice warm comfy bed with my heating blanket and no one to bother me.

My pain level seems to high anybody else experiencing this??

Everybody feels pain differently. Were you given post-surgical pain meds to have at home? (If you're at home.) Are you taking them? How's your support system? How is your sleep? Stressors can make you feel pain more.

I came in late late PM, had the surgery early AM. But here before they let you out they have to do a leak test. I got a fever. They didn't let me leave. They suspected a whole in my stomach but they couldn't find it (for days!) I got a bad infection and they had to open me up twice more. So.. what was suppose to be a max 48hrs turned into 21days! Complications DO happen and they suck!

My hospital stay was 2 days. I'm stunned to see some members went home the same day. It's important to have your vitals checked and pain managed

I'm one of the ones who went home the same day. I realize that everyone's experience is different, but I can't imagine why I would have needed to stay any longer. After I woke up in the recovery room, I got up and walked to my room. I never even got into bed, just sat up and walked around all day. My vitals were all fine and I didn't really have much pain. The only reason I took the pain meds at all was because the doctor said I should just to make sure that I didn't start hurting.

My stay was 4 nights because I couldn't sip anything. Felt very nauseas and nothing would help my nausea.

I was out in 24. I had hardly any pain and freaked them out by jumping off the gurney to walk around after surgery. A lady I was in with had a conversion from lap band to sleeve. She had to stay longer.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
