How long were you in the hospital? My surgeon said as long as everything is good I should only be there 24 hours. However I'm seeing a lot of people say they stayed 2+ days...

From check-in to check-out, I was only there about 10 hours. It was awesome to be able to go home that night. I hate trying to sleep anywhere but home.

Great question. My surgery is scheduled for really early in the morning and I've been told it's very likely that I'll be released the next afternoon barring no complications.

My stay was almost two days, about 40 hours. Got there at 5:30 am on September 30th. Left October 1st at 8:30pm.

It just depends on how your doing.

My hospital had 3 requirements you had to meet before you could go home.

1. Pain management

2. 40 sips in

3. Had to pee

My stay was longer because I couldn't pee. Lol

I stayed 2 days. I felt great but my heart rate was a little elevated, so they suggested another night.

My surgeon said 24-48 hours, all hinging on how I'm doing and feeling.

Almost exactly 24 hours. Came in about 9:30 AM, surgery was started by 11:30 AM or so. Woke up in my room about 2:30 PM, maybe a bit later. The next morning, my surgeon cleared me to leave about 11 AM, but it took until about 12:30 PM to finish up my last IV antibiotic dose, "eat" lunch, and get discharged. :-)

Usually 1-2 days, but really depends on the person, I was sleeved 10/5 and still here, but other people that was sleeved the same day or even after are already gone

My doctor was ready to release me the next day but I insisted on a second day. I was doing great - keeping fluids down, passing gas, peeing.. you know, all those fun things. I just didn't feel steady enough on my feet given the pain I was experiencing. I am glad I stayed a second day - I got more rest at the hospital than I would have at home!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
