Sick of Water? Water Enhancers Rock!

Recommended Posts

I purchased a couple Crystal Light Water enhancers to jazz up my water. I love them! A few drops, 5 calories, and BAM! Instant strawberry lemonade or some other great flavor.

They can easily be carried in a purse, backpack, briefcase (does anyone even carry a briefcase anymore?) - okay, a man purse. You get my point. There are several brands and flavors to chose from. I found them in the coffee aisle of my grocery store. Yum! Give them a shot! :)

My local health food store carries these http://sweetleaf.com/stevia-water-enhancer/

The raspberry lemonade is amazing, the peach mango is too sweet. They were $4.99 at my local store, which doesn't have the best prices. They are sweetened with stevia.

I avoided these kind of Water enhancers but I found since surgery, I really only want to drink Fiji or Smart Water plain, and tap water is a struggle. This enhancer is cheaper and better for the environment than drinking Fiji water all day.

I drink Vitamin Water Zero, they have lots of different flavors and are full of Vitamins. I cannot stomach plain Water since my bypass. Don't know why.

I also have lots of tiny 1 bottle powder mix by Crystal Lite . I put it in a water bottle, keep in the fridge and use when I need to drink. Nice change.

I have not tried the drops yet, maybe I will.

@@Madeleine Renee I've had the same experience with plain Water. Water used to be my favorite beverage, and I rarely ever drank sodas. Now, I can't tolerate plain water. It actually makes me nauseas. Weird. I've never been a Crystal Light or Vitamin water type person, but now I am!

Every day I take 1/4 to 1/2 of a New whey fruit Punch Protein bullet, pour it into my 20 oz water container, and add half a Crystal Light -- one of those tiny foil packs. That way I get Protein and water. I like the raspberry green tea and the strawberry flavors. They make the syrupy protein stuff palatable.

Great idea thinside. I also use Water flavorings and have done for years. I especially like a pina colada one I found in PA.

One more thing - hubby just got me a Yeti 20 oz. tumbler. OMGosh. This thing really is amazing. Stays cold all day - ice melts forever slowly if you like ice. Wirth the investment since all we drink is Water and need it to stay interesting!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
