I'm starting to prep for my surgery in November and I'm not sure what I'll need to be comfortable in and after I leave the hospital. I'm going to buy easy slip on shoes and a light robe (if you can suggest any lightweight plus size robes, I would appreciate it!!)

I'm also wondering about gas X... Where does the gas that was inflated into my stomach go if I take gas X to stop tooting it out?

The only things I used at the hospital were my phone and toothbrush/paste. They made me wear the slipper socks to go walking and the gown was so big it wrapped around me twice so I didn't even use my robe that I brought. Besides I was hooked to the IV and you can't get the robe on around it unless they will unhook it for you. Many people have said that they needed Chapstick too cause their lips dry out.

My surgeon removed the gas from inside me so I didn't have that issue. However I did buy gas x strips and took those for a week when I was home. I didn't need a robe I just walked around in my hospital wrap. I did however bring leggings and warm thick socks. I brought a pillow from home for twofold. Just to be comfy but also used it in the ride to protect the opening on my tummy. So the seatbelt wouldn't rub against it. Honestly I brought way too many things that I didn't use. I did have baby wipes to feel fresh. I didn't take a shower. You will be fine. I won't miss the 3am blood draws or 2am bp and just remember to have your door closed. To keep out all the noise etc. Gl!

For one night:

Loose clothes to go home in.

Something to read (such as magazines, which you can just pick up and put down in between walking, sipping, sleeping, walking sipping)

Gas-x strips

Soap, toothpaste and toothbrush.

Nightwear/underwear

I stayed 3 nights and 4 days and so in addition I took and found helpful:

Kindle

Face wipes

Lip Balm

Phone and charger

Shampoo and body wash

3 x nightwear

I spent most of the time in between the walking etc either in bed sleeping or watching tv/reading or being checked over by the health professionals, especially in the first day. My husband brought a pillow to put over my tummy so the seat belt didn't dig in for the drive home. Otherwise the hospital provided everything else I wanted.

Best wishes for the surgery in November :)

Good point with the IV!! I hadn't even thought about that being an issues... I think I'll pass on having a robe at the hospital. Thank you!

Did they wake you up to walk? What time of day was your surgery?

It was about 4pm, I came back up about 7.30 and was walking up and down the corridor at 9pm. I stayed in bed and slept most of the first night, in between nurses checks.

I didn't realize they generally kept people more than one night. Does that happen often?

I am in England and generally, if you are private and paying yourself they like you to stay two nights. I could have stayed up to five but wanted to go home, plus I was doing well so there was no need for me to stay anyway.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
