Pumpkin Pie Protein Shake

Recommended Posts

Hi All! I am 2 months post-op and having a difficult time getting in my Protein. I don't know about you, but the thought of Protein shakes makes me nauseous and frankly, I am burnt out on them. At the same time, I know they are a great way to get in a bunch of much needed protein. I whipped this up tonight and it is very delicious and filling. Not to mention I can't taste the Protein powder in it. Please enjoy!

pumpkin Pie Protein Shake:

1 cup 1% milk

1 scoop vanilla whey Protein Powder

1/2 c. pumpkin

1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

1 tsp/ cinnamon

2 graham cracker sheets

1 cup ice

Directions: Blend and enjoy!

This sounds great! I'm about two months out too, and I'm getting pretty sick of my shakes as well. I might leave out the graham crackers, though, as grains don't really agree with me. Thank you for the recipe. ^_^

GNC total lean makes a Protein shake in pumpkin spice that I like-

I do *one scoop of pumpkin spice 12.5 G Protein, 1 scoop unflavored 10g protein and 8 oz fair life skim milk 13 G protein. It is 220 calories, but 35.5 g of protein and yummy but not to sweet! I am post op day 6 so I try to get as protein I can in one shake because it takes me a while to drink it or anything for that matter!

I might be advanced to soft dairy today.. Yeah!

* the directions say to use two scoops but it is too sweet for me that way.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
