cuchas 51 Posted October 4, 2015 I used to be an avid Cereal eater and after the surgery, I haven't had a bite. I've been pretty good at staying away from old foods that don't have much nutritional value. I am having a HUGE craving for cereal though. Have any of you eaten it since surgery? Would you even recommend to do so?
JosieAppleHead 74 Posted October 4, 2015 I tried it but it didn't go to well the whole liquids and solids had me with the bubble stomach. My doc and nut said cereal was cool but the cheerios and brans stuff (Which I love anyway) but not since then. We had surgery around the same time so you should be able to try it. cuchas 51 Posted October 4, 2015 That's what I was worried about! -- the whole food and liquid combo. I was thinking about just having some without the milk I like cheerios as well, but my absolute favorite is fruit Loops. I know those are full of sugar though. I think I'm just going to daydream about the thought of cereal for now lol
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted October 4, 2015 I missed the milk and sugar more than the cereal itself. To compensate for that and no more bedtime ice cream, I have a glass of milk (or almond milk) with some vanilla and a little sweetener.
cuchas 51 Posted October 4, 2015 That is so interesting! Perhaps I may be the same way? I just might try that out.
Babbs 14,681 Posted October 5, 2015 Cereal is a trigger food for me, so I stay away. I liked it all little too much pre op, which contributed to me getting to 235 pounds
Proud2BMe 1,016 Posted October 5, 2015 Too many carbs. Carbs will quickly sabotage you.
Pillar2butterfly 391 Posted October 5, 2015 If you must have cereal...Special K Protein....but I stopped eating it after surgery.
Jessica2011Marie 6 Posted October 6, 2015 I'm gonna be watching this to lol I've heard Cheerios is ok. But I haven't thought about the whole liquid solid thing. I've tolerated everything well so far but do get full very quickly so I guess this will just be an experiment to try lol

Thinside 155 Posted October 6, 2015 I had 1/4 cup of grape nuts with milk once. I let it thoroughly soak so the Cereal was soft. It tasted great and I had no problems with it, but it's not something I'll eat very often because of the carbs.
RobinGee 18 Posted October 6, 2015 I miss cereal so much, especially Raisin Nut Flakes, but I know that there is no way I could handle it yet. I worry to have it though because it was a problem food for me. I might have to, in the future, have my husband hide it from me and allow me a small amount once and a while. amazon 579 Posted October 6, 2015 I've snacked on some dry cereal occasionally. Also added <1/4 cup to some yogurt, just to have some crunch. But it's really a very infrequent thing. A very conscious decision to have the extra carbs. I don't think carbs are evil. I just think too many are, especially if they make me feel bad. Can't imagine having a bowl of cereal with milk!
