I am almost 3 years out from my sleeve surgery and down 130 lbs.

My starting weight was 405 lbs. I consider my VSG to be a success, however, I have been gaining and losing the same 5-10 lbs for about a year.

I am considering going back across the border to Mx for a revision.

I would love to know what VSG to MGB patients have experienced. Especially if you chose Medical Tourism.< /p>

Also - with the revision, how do they alter an already altered stomach?

Revision surgery is not to be taken lightly. Most revise when the current procedure has been unsuccessful or for example if your sleeve has stretched back out. I am a band to sleeve to MGB revision. I went to Mexico, dr. Rodriguez in Juarez is wonderful. However I would never have done it had the sleeve worked for me at all. Their are side effects with the MGB that I wish weren't there for sure but overall I'm happy with my choice and only 10 lbs from goal.

Would you elaborate on the side effects?

Hello Band07, I am a Lap band to sleeve and re-sleeve patient. I think Lap band patients just don't get the results with the sleeve. I am considering the MBP as well. Can you elaborate on the negatives please? Ive never experienced any reflux with my sleeve. Would that matter if I had the MBP done? Thanks for your input.

Sorry I just now saw this. I agree about band to sleeve struggles though I've seen a few who have done great it seems to me if you did well with the band, which i did amazing, you struggle more with the sleeve. I had terrible reflux with the band but none with the sleeve or MGB. My issues with the MGB are actually on the other end. I am in the bathroom A LOT!! I have to be very careful of my food choices, especially when I'm away from home because too much sugar or grease will set it off for sure. I try to eat very light throughout the day so I can make it through the work day because what happens in the bathroom post MGB (at least for me) is best kept in the privacy of your own home!! Other than that, I love it, but of coarse that is also what keeps the weight off so it's a love/hate relationship I guess!

Hi Amanda I remember you from the sleeve site.

I had sleeve to full gastric bypass in September 2015. Best thing I could have done. Why do you want the mini surgery? I have much better restriction and no desire for sugary/greasy foods with the GB. Taking Vitamins is a breeze. I used Bariatric Pal, here, Dr Zavalza and it was a wonderful experience, give them a shout, great support and a guide/helper everyday, two years nutritional counselling, email/facebook contact 24/7, you can't beat it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
