My wedding rings during surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi! I haven't been able to take off my wedding rings in about 2 or 3 years. I have no problem with feeling in my finger, but sometimes it does give me a panicky feeling.

Anyway, I was told I can't wear jewelry during surgery, and it didn't even occur to me about my wedding rings. I'll be asking the surgeon about it, but does anyone have any insight before then? Is the no jewelry policy just for security sake?

On another note, I can't WAIT to be able to take them on and off!!!

I work in the operating room and if u cant get them off they will just put tape over them. However, 6 months after my surgery, my ring fell off at work! Luckily it was found but i now have a smaller ring lol

@@forrealthistime

no jewelry allowed during surgery

no ifs and butts around it!!

piercings nose, ears, lip, belly button etc

mom just had surgery

she has bad arthritis in her fingers

hospital had to cut rings off because

rings wouldn't go over knuckles

they used a "ring cutter"

this had to be done with 4 rings!!

good luck

How long until your surgery ?

They may come off during the pre-op diet.

I didn't wear my wedding rings but I wore 12 ear piercings just changed them to clear plastic ones. I've heard of them just taping them if you can't get them off though.

You post a lot of stuff with incorrect information. If someone can't get their jewelry off, the hospital staff will tape over it in almost all circumstances. Please check your sources before you give out information so willingly.

@proudgrammy - I said

"mom has bad arthritis in her fingers

hospital had to cut rings off because

rings wouldn't go over knuckles

they (hospital)used a "ring cutter"

this had to be done with 4 rings!!"

she "pleaded" that they don't cut rings off

3 other rings had to be also cut

now mom sadly doesn't have my dad's wedding rings anymore

parents were married 50 years+

he passed 10 years ago

out of curiosity i asked doc about body piercings

he said NO

he never mentioned covering them with bandages

this is a possibility he never said

i just listened to his NO

my "source" for the cutting rings is my mom

my "source" for body piercings is my doc

my "source" for any of my comments i wrote is me

i didn't - don't feel there was a need to question any of us

i don't feel that i EVER have given any bad responses

My "source" is me

no FEUD here

just response to your comments

kathy

And what, pray tell, is all this "incorrect information" @@proudgrammy posts? She had her personal source, and posted the info.

She's one of the most knowledgeable people on this forum, and I personally have found all her posts positive and very helpful throughout my journey.

I'm sorry, when was your surgery? Oh, last month. Well, you must be an expert on all things bariatric! I'm sure you know MUCH MORE than the veterans in these forums!

I have seen her comments on many posts and several times she has said things that are wrong. Or, she says things that were just her personal experience as if it is the hard truth for everyone. For example, when she said "no ifs ands or buts" about the rings. That may have been her experience but she shouldn't say it will be everyone's experience. That kind of statement is misleading, especially for newbies. Everyone's experience will be different.

Also, I never professed to be an expert so I'm not sure where that came from. Calm down.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
