Reputable Financing Options VSG Mexico

Recommended Posts

I am starting the process for VSG and hoping to get some financing advice. From Montana, which doesn't require bari services to be covered by insurance...so I'll be going the self-pay route and planning on Mexico. I'm looking for any advice on reputable financing for medical expenses: I did an initial google search, but all the "sponsored" ads for financing are sketchy at best. Not sure what to look for regard medical financing, and getting a CCD is a last resort because of the interest rates.

TIA! Really hoping my VSG is in the plans for summer 2016!

All the Drs accept different financing in Mexico it seems. I would research your Drs and your budget and then they will assist you with which financing options they accept. Mexicali bariatric is who my surgery is with and they accept 2 or 3 financing companies but none are care credit which most US Drs accept.

I am using Dr.Carlos Altamirano. I agree with previous post.Research doctor first along with location then allow them to give you their financing info. Dr.Altamirano will be doing my surgery in December. I made my last payment a few weeks ago.

Go with a reputable Doctor.I have heard good things about Dr. Altamarino.Reputable.I have heard of someone who is a member of this site being allegedly raped at a facility in Mexico. No one accompanied her and it is a harrowing ordeal. So do your research and choose carefully.

Thanks, Please don't assume that good financing is my only priority, it's not. I've done a lot of research regarding surgeons and am still researching. I have a top 3 and my next step on that end is setting up individual meetings with their offices, but I wanted to check on the $$-issue before I do that so I have my information straight. Wasn't sure if I should go in with financing set up or if I should use the doctors financing options. I haven't really seen any issues with people using the financing of their particular doctor/center, but it's one of the many things I am researching.

Will they take a Visa or master card? I am self-pay in US and that is what I am doing.

My surgeon charges a 3% fee to use a credit card. I would assume most Mexico Drs are the same.

Mine did too. However I could take a cash advance through my bank the card is at without a fee or higher interest rate. So I took the cash advance and put it in my checking account. Then I wrote a check for my surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
