Tryn2live1979 11 Posted October 4, 2015 Per my insurance Blue cross and Blue Shield I am required to be on a diet for 6months. I have been to the nutritionist (3) times the DR once I have been to the performance center as well as the physiologist. Does anyone know if they will allow the surgery before the 6 months is up? B-52 7,113 Posted October 4, 2015 I doubt it.....my insurance wanted the 6 months diet to show, on the official record, that I sincwerley attempted (and failed) at loosing the weight the traditional way. Telling them I have been though many diet programs was not good enough...it was just my word. They wanted something official, wirth charts, graphs and progress notes, all signed off by a MD that would go in my record, and justifying surgery as a last resort. Did they explain to you why YOUR insurance requires this???
Bandista 7,466 Posted October 4, 2015 @@Tryn2live1979 I can't comment on the insurance process as they are all different but I just want to say congratulations on choosing your healthy future -- it will all be worth it. I started my process in June 2013 and had my surgery in November so it was five months. I knew what I wanted and this felt like the longest wait in the world. In hindsight, though, it gave me time to get ready. I went to a therapist and worked on my triggers, and it was good to have that extra support. Also I upped my exercise. Good luck with all -- don't be afraid to call your insurance company to get all the info you need. I must have called five times to verify everything.
