Wait! Everyone just hold on!

Recommended Posts

I feel like I want to scream that to everyone! Like, "Just wait, everything's gonna change in a couple months. I know I look gross. I know I don't fit in that chair. I know I'm not healthy! Just hit the pause button! I'll be there soon!"

Does anyone else want to hit the pause button on life until your surgery comes!?!?!

Yes, I understand. For me it was more die to mobility issues. I had gotten to a place where my lack of mobility was impacting just about everything in my life and had no real hope that it would ever improve until I decided to have surgery.

Once I made the decision I knew I might be able to do some things but was on the limbo of not knowing how long it would take to get there.

Now, almost 6 months post-op, things are improving faster than I anticipated!

I was the proverbial "active fat". I had a busy social life and had been exercising regularly for a few years prior to surgery. However it took more and more planning and to do the things I liked to do. We'd go to NYC and I'd have to cab it instead of walking. Take the elevator rather than the stairs. Ask for the chair with no arms at restaurants. I have chronic health conditions and when they flared up I was done. I had no extra energy to fight them because I was already using working hard for day to day things.

Much like @@BLERDgirl I live/lived a very active life. I worked out, walked a lot (can run skinny people into the ground at a mall), etc.

The only thing I kinda have on hold right now are some pricier overseas vacations. Those are really more planning and than waiting to get skinny,

You only this young, in this moment once. Anyone can die at any moment. Don't stop living life or put things on hold waiting to magically be x size or weight. Live this life, be happy with who you are right now, because if you aren't happy with yourself now, you won't be happy when you are smaller either.

Totally get it!! Maybe my post came out wrong. I'm also fat active! I have an amazing husband and two beautiful daughters, I have more true friends than should be allowed for one person. I travel all the time and live a very busy life! I haven't let my weight stop me from doing anything (except fit on some rides) and I'm very happy with myself. Interestingly, at 322lbs, I'm happier with myself now than I was in my weight loss days of 160lbs. I owe that to 3 years of therapy working on body issues that no amount of weight loss will ever fix.

Maybe I mean that "hold on" thought for people that don't know me well, or don't know about this 39 year journey I've had with my weight. It's more like... "Yeah, I know how I look! Hold on... Because soon my outside will match my inside." Does that make sense?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
