James Marusek 5,244 Posted October 2, 2015 It can always be a little hard in the beginning. Your body is in a heal mode. The most important elements in the beginning is working towards meeting you daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting stored fat into the energy that drives your body. TMG1980TMG 136 Posted October 2, 2015 (edited) I have a hard time with jello-- trying to drink Water, ice tea and a bit of crystal light-- just started in Protein shakes-- they are hard to get down! ???????? It is post op day 3 for me???? Edited October 2, 2015 by TMG1980TMG
Cervidae 2,389 Posted October 2, 2015 you've lost over half the weight I have and I'm 7 weeks post op. I'm a little jealous! but yes, that nausea when you drink is unfortunately normal and will eventually go away. Right now your stomach has new incisions and has been through a HUGE trauma. As you heal, you will tolerate things much, much better. Take care, keep your chin up. Feel better!
gpmed 623 Posted October 3, 2015 Has your doc prescribed anything for nausea? Mine prescribed nausea medicine for me to fill in advance of surgery. It might help with meeting your Protein and fluid goals.< /p>
RGraham87 62 Posted October 4, 2015 Yeah but it doesn't seem to help much. I am doing good on fluids for now. I hope I don't have any problems
Mariah Phillips 15 Posted October 4, 2015 I had a similar problem only everything made me nauseous from the smell of food to brushing my teeth. I found that pain and anti nausea meds together where a winning combo. I also found taking in 2oz then walking seemed to help a bit
Spiceyfrog 269 Posted October 5, 2015 If you cannot eat/drink warm things, keep pushing the cold Protein drinks. You need to get in some Protein to keep your strenght up. Hang in there, it only gets better :-)
