Stomach volume 6months post op

Recommended Posts

I can't help but feel like I can eat a lot. Granted it is not nearly as much as I used to but I can definitely eat a full cup of food. I don't feel pressure or full and I could definitely eat more but I stop myself. I also feel real hunger, not just head hunger, real hunger! Is anybody else experiencing this?

I notice I can eat more now as well depending on the type of food. About a cup is the same for me.

Yep, I noticed a real change in how much I could hold at 6 months and again at 9 and again at 12.

From there on, it was stable at 1 1/2 to 2 cups, depending on the Protein to vegetable ratio.

By 6 months, Frankensleeve's swelling had gone away and he would tolerate more types of foods.

So it was important to stay with my doc's recommended Proteins and carbs.

But I still continued to lose weight.

It took my body about a year to lower it's metabolism to match my lower caloric intake.

Take advantage of this time to get into good eating habits and a good exercise routine.

It will pay off if your metabolism starts to slow.

For the first few months I couldn't eat more than 2-3 oz at a time. I am almost 7 months and am full on about 3.5 oz of solids. i can eat a little more of soft stuff like yogurt, just shy of a full container. I still weigh most of my meals.

I do get hungry! I have an early lunch at 11:30 and usually have a small snack between lunch and supper. I pretty much eat 4 small meals a day since there isnt much difference in the size of a meal or snack : )

hi - I am also at 6 months and I still stick with 2 oz of Protein and 1 oz of veggies so still at 3 oz of food for each meal. I am still losing - have 50 pounds till goal.

I will say - I can eat 5 oz of yogurt (one container) since its goes down easier. Definitely watch the slider foods - but dense Protein for me is still 2-3 oz total.

It seems as though others still eat a really small amount. I watch what and how much I eat but Damn, this has me worried. And I'm in the midst of a plateau to boot! Thank you all for your responses

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
