Pre-op, pre-insurance submission

Recommended Posts

Dr. Has me doing the 90 restricted phase instead of 6 months. Just had my 2nd visit with NUT today (1st follow up since initial consult) and I am excited that I lost 15 lbs on my own so far. They have me goal of 30 lbs so knowing I am 1/2 way there and still have 1 more NUT visit before they submit to insurance gives me hope that I'll meet the 30 lb goal. Just wanted to share, anyone else out there in the 90 day restricted phase?? I have had gallbladder ultrasound, labs, chest xray, I have a sleep apnea test next week. Any thing else I should expect after my sleep study and final NUT visit before they will start the insurance submission step?

Still trying to figure out what's causing liquid in my abdomen, I waited 4 weeks for an appointment with specialist only to be sent for more tests cuz he didn't know either, so frustrating and afraid it's going to ruin my 90 day plan. I get a CT scan tomorrow, we will see how it goes from there because I can't get cleared medically until they figure out the Fluid in my abdomen

Ok, now just waiting for Dr. to receive and review and contact me, hopefully this week. I also had my last nutrition visit Friday, she cleared me so I'm cleared for everything but this liquid in my abdomen so praying it's something simple so I can move forward

Does anyone know if insurance will require me to do the 90 day supervised plan again if I have gotten clearance from the nutritional, psych, just waiting on medical clearance due to abdominal Fluid and the specialists are taking FOREVER to review my ct scans and stuff to determine the cause and see if I'm safe to proceed. Frustrating if their busy schedule will derail me and make me redo the 90 day plan all over again.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
