I am pretty op. My surgery date is October 26. I am so worried and I feel like its the only thing g I think about. I am worried I will fail. I am petrified that I won't be able to lose or lose very little. What if I don't get the hang of getting enough to eat or eat to much. I guess it is hard to explain the ways I feel like I will fail. I am 5'9 3/4 and I weigh 251.8. That puts my bmi to around 36.6. Is there anyone else around the same that was able to lose and how fast did you lose

Yep, been there, felt that, have a t-shirt. All I can say is it has been wonderful on the other side. Take some time to explore the site, we have all had fear going in. Most have had great experiences on the other side. Do you know how cool it is not to have to think about "how am I going to cut my toe nails?" No more inhale reach, exhale, breathe...

Regain your reason for doing this...

It’s normal to be nervous before the surgery, I think we all go through the questioning in our heads.

Is this right for me? Will it be painful? How am I going to cope with so little food in the first few months? And on and on. However we all get through it and I can honestly say that it’s been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. Believe in yourself and your inner strength, you CAN do it.

Honestly....the weight is going to come off.

All you have to do is try.

Follow the surgeon's instructions and it will come off in tremendous amounts.

I'm two weeks out from surgery and just riding the rollercoaster. I lost along the way, but nothing at the rate I've lost this week on the pre-op liquid diet. Lawdy mamma !!!! It is literally falling off right now.

I am super enthused. Weight is falling off and the surgery is still ahead.

Your surgeon and his/her staff have it mapped out for you. This is what they've been trained to do. It's what they do for a living. They are professionals in the world of weight loss and weight loss surgery.

Trust and believe in what they advise you to do and simply DO IT.

worried I will fail

@@sarahlindsay

oh no!!

don't go into surgery with bad thoughts :(

optimistic thoughts ONLY are allowed

you will be taught many things/rules pre and post-op

you must follow all the rules til you reach goal

as long as you ALWAYS do that, you should/will be fine

after goal - you must continue the rules forever and a day!!

that is the only way your success will continue

the tool (sleeve, lapband etc) will help you "assist" you in losing the weight

YOU have a lot of work too

you work with the sleeve and it will work with you

good luck

kathy

You could drink liquified twinkles and still lose.

I just love this quote because it's so true!

Let's be honest. The first, oh lets say, up to 5 or 6 months, the weight comes off almost organically. It's a matter of physiology. Your calories are dramatically decreased no matter what you eat, so the weight will come off. I think that's when people get into the trap of thinking this surgery has cured their obesity because "They can eat whatever they want and still lose weight!"

But that's when it gets tricky. The body adjusts to the low calorie intake, and will pretty much slam on the brakes with weight loss. That's why it's so important to go into this with an attitude of change. Change in eating habits. Change in exercise. Change in overall lifestyle. Otherwise, you will have lost the 60% or so excess weight the docs say you will, but you won't get to goal and you certainly won't keep it off. It's really up to you how far you want to go with it. If you say you're going to make it work, it will work. Period.

Oh, and your fears that it won't? Totally normal. We've ALL had them. :)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
