excited and scared..

Recommended Posts

As of now Im pretty much scheduled for surgery in late December but do not have concrete date

Im very excited .. but very nervous and scared

how will my friends act?? Im a hairdresser and feel as if Im well liked in a small community.. a precious little fishing village in Ga

Im the female town clown..will they still like me??

AM i going to look old and saggy... Im 48... I'm tall and carry my weight pretty well

As all of you I have failed at dieting... I want to feel better .. do the things I want to do... wear the stylish clothes a hairdresser should wear... be more of a grandmother to my children... and the list goes on......

Anybody have feedback about these feelings i have????

I am right there with you. Even at 3 years post-op, I can still remember how scared/nervous/excited/scared.... did I mention scared? :-)

Not knowing how my friends/family were going to react when I told them I was having surgery.

And what did I know about being "normal" sized? I have 40 years of being the "fat guy" at work, at home, and around my friends.

The good news is, when I woke up from surgery, I wasn't instantly thin! :-)

It took me 18 months to get to what I call "normal" size.

So I had plenty of time to grow into my new body and get used to my new way of living.

I can tell you, that it's sooooo much better after the weight loss.

It was the best decision I ever made.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
