I am 5 days post-op and only down approx 5 pounds is this normal? Did I have grandiose expectations?

I had lap band 5 years ago this was a conversion to sleeve but I just felt like the weight came off quicker ???? Feeling really discouraged

Yes 5lbs is perfectly normal. Not everyone has huge numbers. Don't compare yourself to anyone.

That's 5 lbs in 5 days, that's more than great. Especially considering you may still be swollen from fluids given in the hospital.

I gained 8 pounds during the two days I spent in the hospital. By the time I lost that and 6 more, I hit the dreaded third week stall - which lasted over a week. It wasn't really until 4 weeks that weight started coming off steadily.

Completely normal. And I agree with your husband. Don't weigh yourself more than once a week. It will drive you crazy. Trust me, the weight will come off. You are only 5 days in! Don't stress.

You are doing great. I've only lost 8lb and I'm in my second week. I'm having difficulty getting in all my Protein. So maybe my body is in starvation mode? All the best

I'm going into my 3rd week and i've hit a stall. It's a struggle getting my Protein in and i'm still never hungry. I've heard it will pass. Our bodies are in shock and it takes time for it to catch up. Good luck to you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
