When do I stop losing?

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow will mark my 3 month surgaversary and I am down 63 pounds. I'm 5'9 and my surgery day weight was 277. Everyone keeps asking when I will stop and I'm not really sure. What has everyone else's experience been like? My goal is to lose 100 in a year but seems like I'll hit that mark much quicker... Or no?

I wonder the same thing and no one can really tell me! I've lost 70+ since surgery and 100 since I started my diet a year ago. I will be 5 months tomorrow.

It depends on a lot of things. Age, excercise level and compliance with the diet. You will also loose more faster than people that don't have as much to loose. I started at 289 10 months ago and am 170 today. Hoping to be in the 150's in November for my 1 year ????

Good question, if anyone has answers I'll listen. I'm starting to get really thin and usually the week before my lady cycle I can eat a lot 1200-1300 calories other than that my stomach doesn't hold much. I can't tolerate many carbs. I never thought I would say this but I'm worried about losing too much weight. I'm almost a year out and 135 pounds.

My goal was 111 lbs. I am 11 1/2 months post op and I still have 4.6 lbs to go. I keep losing a pound and gaining a pound for the last month. It gets really hard the smaller you get. I am a size 4 and feel pretty good, but I set a goal and I would really like to reach it.

We were told in our after care meetings that our bodies know when to stop losing and that it's not up to us, so long as we are compliant. I guess only time will tell as I'm already down 81 lbs. and not even 6 months post-op.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
