That stuck feeling!

Recommended Posts

I'm so frustrated. I'm 3 months post op, we went out for dinner last night because our power was out and I had a normal size portion of food I can usually tolerate, some meat, cheese and sour cream from the inside of a Chipotle soft taco. Typically I can do this with no issues. Last night I probably had a little too much and I had that stuck feeling and ended up throwing up some before bed. Felt fairly normal when I went to sleep. Woke up this morning, had a small sip of Water and that stupid stuck feeling is back. Plus I have a headache, most likely from not being able to get in all my fluids yesterday. I took some payapa and paced around the living room but ugh. I ended up calling in sick to work because I just can't see being able to work normally, interact with patients when I have this persistent stuck feeling/pain.

I just need to vent some because it's so early here no one in my house is awake yet. On the other hand if anyone has experience with that stuck feeling persisting for longer than usual I'd love to hear about it.

I'm so sorry! I'm a little behind you at just over two months, and I've yet to experience the stuck feeling you describe. But it sounds awful, and I just wanted to say that I hope you feel better soon!

I have noticed that when I have that stuck feeling that the orientation of my body affects the recovery significantly. If I eat too much just before bedtime, it is horrible. By body does not digest food the same way when I am laying down verses sitting up. Most times I have to get up and watch TV for a couple hours to get over that stuck feeling. For me the lesson learned was to never eat dinner too late.

One of my friends who had the sleeve about a month ago had this same reaction to chipotle. Weird right? I'm thinking your pouch may be a little swollen and irritated and maybe just trying some ice cold liquids for the day will help.

That's my guess as well. I'm finally feeling some relief and I'm thinking a day of liquids sounds like the best plan.

When that happens to me the only way I feel better is to sort of force myself to throw up.... It's the worst but helps so much. Feel better soon!

I threw up so many times before it went away, it was awful. My son had rice in his taco and I must have accidentally grabbed some of that with the cheese and sour cream. Typically when I get that stuck feeling from overeating it happens pretty quickly, this time I didn't feel anything until quite a while after we finished eating (45 minutes to an hour) and it lasted so long. It must have been the rice swelling up in my pouch. Fortunately everything seems back to normal now, although I did take the day very slowly.

I had my surgery July 20th and I have this issue every few days. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I have to throw up to relieve the discomfort and it's awful. Sadly I'm getting used to it. I guess it just takes our bodies a while to adjust.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
