Sagging tummies!

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I'm at 6 months down and I'm discouraged by the sagging tummy. I know, the weight loss is most important, but I do the Vitamins, tea, creams and exercise, it isn't shrinking in like it used to. Before I put on the massive weight gain, I used to have a flat belly at this numbered weight before, now I have a sagging belly :(

What are some things people are doing to maintain a tighter body during weight loss? Everything else is going in perfectly, my neck, arms and legs. Just my stomach and thighs are kinda bumming me out.

My stomach is also a bit saggy and squishy. I had twins 15 years ago and my stomach was stretched waayyy out. I have stretch marks that reach above my belly button. I am almost 40 and happily married so I am just going to live with it. I am pretty sure plastic surgery is the only way to truly take care of the problem and I do not have the money for that.

I agree with @twinhappy...sometimes there is no amount of excersise that can help certain areas. I have been running and doing strength training for the last 8 months with good results....except my tummy. It's a hot mess. Between having 2 giant babies and getting up to 235 lbs I carried mostly in my stomach, I'm afraid surgery may be my only option. I'll see how I feel in a year or so whether I want to deal with another surgery :P

There is no magic pill. Weight training can help with definition, but won't magically shrink skin that has been stretched out due to this level of obesity. There are a few lucky ones with amazing genetics, but for the most part, loose skin and stretch marks are the price we pay for an unhealthy lifestyle. Some people get surgery, some people simply learn to love themselves regardless.

I've been upping the weight resistance & I started using this cream called Cellulite Defense and WOW, huge difference. It's a strange smelling product, but no other cream has helped like this, two weeks and already seeing lines tightening around my belly and thighs. Worth a shot for others!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
