2 weeks out and sold food already

Recommended Posts

So I went to see my surgeon today for my two week visit and he gave me the OK for solid foods. He said I look great and I'm tolerating foods awesome. He told me I can pretty much eat anything besides red meat bread rice Pasta all the stuff I wasn't planning on eating anyway. Is this to soon? I'm happy because I can finally chew but A tad bit apprehensive.

It sounds a bit early if you had RNY gastric bypass surgery.

I wasn't cleared to eat anything and everything until the three-month mark, but all surgeons are different. You aren't the first I've heard of who was cleared to eat solid food that early - although it doesn't seem to be common.

I did have RNY . I asked him if it was to early and he said no. He told me to just listen to my body . I been tolerating everything so far. Today I had a piece sliced turkey breast and pepper jack and chopped it up small and chewed it very well. Took my time eating it . Took around 30 mins to eat 1/4 a cup . And I feel great. For the first time I actually felt full.

I had no problems either but I was not released for regular food until I hit 8 weeks post op.

Wow so I'm right it is early. He told me cook my veggies very soft and my meat moist not dry. Maybe because I wasn't eating puréed food at all? I just couldn't stand the texture. And explain how I felt I wasnt consuming enough calories . I was barley eating 400 a day .

I'd say take it slow, which it sounds like you are... and hey, you can still eat the non solid foods, no harm there.

Sounds like you are doing great. There is absolutely no way I could eat solid food right now. I am three weeks out, and just recently got on the pureed stage. I can eat about 2 tablespoons of food at a time, and I know that if I tried solid food at this point it would come all up. I am hoping to be able to move to soft foods in about two weeks, but we will see.

Sounds soon but go by what your surgeon says. Take it slow and chew. Make sure you call if have any concerns. Listen to your body.

PS.. Super jealous. I am ony 12th day clear liquid and Protein, still have almost another week to go. Will advance to full liquids for a couple weeks, and than soft foods for a couple weeks. Wont be able to eat real food for like 2 months.

Enjoy and good luck

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
