I96 11 Posted November 9, 2015 My surgery is coming up on Wednesday! Only 2 more days. I have chosen to tell very few people, my 3 adult sons, my husband, and one close friend. I am so ready for this, but am also sure I don't want negativity in my life right now. I will be talking to my 98 year old dad tomorrow and want to tell him, but won't. He is half way across the country and so are my 2 sisters - whom he would tell for sure. They would not be supportive. My sister had a chance to do this several years ago and was talked out it by my mom and other sister I'm sure. They never had to struggle with weight and I can I can still feel the silence that followed my positive reaction to her news. Still feels bad and sad. Anyway, thanks for starting this thread. I needed to vent I guess. I am so ready. Good luck to all of you!
katladee 156 Posted November 9, 2015 I96, prayers for you on your surgery tomorrow. Can't wait to hear about your experience afterward. I won't see my surgery until around late January, so I love to read about everyone's success! Wishing you all the best for your recovery, and future weight loss! I96 11 Posted November 18, 2015 Hi everyone! I am almost one week out of surgery and doing absolutely great. I mentioned that I had had surgery to my dad finally. He didn't even ask what for. However my phone rang within minutes-he called my sister immediately and asked her to find out about it. I knew he would. She was surprised to say the least but couldn't halt my enthusiasm. I told her it wasn't a 'secret', I just wanted it to be all about me. In the end she turned out to be supportive. I got a text within a minute of the call. She was already on the phone with my other sister sharing the news. They dont realize how uncomfortable, unhappy and embarrassed I was all the time. I now have two new supporters - but I know I made the right decision before the surgery. I hope all of you who are still in the waiting stage have great luck with your surgery and that you feel as happy as I do right now! Thanks for all your support while I was waiting too! Thanks for sharing, I have kept mine to myself to the point that I don't even have a ride to and from the hospital.....guess I have to let someone in at some point or hire a limo......guess that is an option as well, but maybe a tad bit expensive
I96 11 Posted November 18, 2015 Oh I hope you can find at least 1 friend to share this with. I was so happy to have my son to run to the store for me the first night when I needed Fiber and Imodium like right now! I am not driving yet and that night I had taken pain meds too. Just sharing the little things like how awful my liquid meds taste makes me feel better. You can post to me for on line support too. Good luck.
