October List of Surgery's

Recommended Posts

Surgery tomorrow morning at 9am. Nervous. Headed to the hospital to do the last minute upper gi, X-rays, and lab work. I'm ready to go! Hope everything goes well for everyone. I feel blessed to have been able to read and interact with all of you during this process. You are the only ones who can truly understand what it means to go through this journey. Thank you. Love you all!!

@@WillieBradley Wishing you the best of outcomes! You will do fine! I know it is scary having surgery, but my experience the worst part wasn't surgery but the gas afterwords, & being tired & now boredom from sip sip sip!! Sending you hugs! You got this!!!

Mine is tomorrow! I'm having a lot of stinking thinking such as, what if they can't do it because my liver didn't shrink enough! That's the worst today. Hope I can get my work done today. I'm supposed to drink this stuff at 4pm. What would happen if I drink it at noon? I can't have anything to eat today other than clear liquid. .

@@kvoneye - Lol, I worried the same… Let's just say I was a big wine drinker before starting my 2 week pre op liquids… I kept thinking, "my poor liver may need more than just two weeks to dry out!", but post surgery my doctor told my husband that the surgery went perfectly and he had no problems whatsoever… even said, and I quote, "she has good insides", lol… Don't worry, you will be fine and best of luck for the surgery! :)

@@60&goin4it, thank you so much! How many post days are you? The gas pain is so bad, I can't even take a deep breath. I walk for hours. Still not done. Do you remember how long it took for it to be gone completely? This is the hardest part. Also getting the fluids in. I didn't come close to getting 48 oz today. I'll work harder tomorrow to get in my fluids. I've been sipping all day. I was getting in 3 oz an hour, but that's not enough. I'll take any suggestions you may have?

@@thbrown223 I'm 1 week today, & last night after a few days of nothing I still had some gas pain! I was so surprised, It was like every step I took it got worse, all in my stomach area. As I tried to relax, & finally went to bed I started letting off gas extremely,& feel better today. Had the best bowel movement so far today also. so I don't know if it was the surgery gas or just my intestines. You may be walking too much! Maybe you need to rest some. I would walk for 5-10 min. every hour on the hour after i finished my 5- 1oz Water & Protein, (2 Protein Drink 3 waters). I get 60 - 65 oz in a day 5oz x12hrs= 60 then I sip some plain water if i feel like it after my 12hr routine. Very boring. The gas pain should from surgery should ease every day but I think it can take up to a week. So sorry you are suffering! Are you able to stay sitting up some during the day? Can you elevate your upper body some while you sleep? That may help. I also got some gas x strips & took one at night before bed. Hope this helps!

My surgery went great according to the dr. I'm just sore and groggy. Never had anesthesia before or dilauded. Both made me dry heave and be very nauseous which was the worst part. Switched over to liquid hydro for pain meds now and they sit better. Just trying to get my Water in.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
