Recommended Posts

Has anyone been successful with unflavored Protein I'm having a very hard time getting my protein in. 12 days out. Just wondering if there's anyway I can mix some into my food without tasting it. To try to get my protein up.

Yes! I like Unjury unflavored Protein Powder mixed in my iced coffee. It dissolves well with no lumps.

It does not have any Protein taste at all. It provides 27g per scoop. I use one scoop with 16oz Water, 2 squirts of Maxwell houses iced coffee drops (similar to Mio) and a few ice cubes and shake it up. I usually make it first thing in the morning and let it sit in the fridge while I get ready for work. It's the only way I get my protein in first thing in the morning since I'm not a Breakfast eater.

Another good brand is nectar. They even have flavors like iced tea that mixes clear and aren't milky.

I'm 14 days out today. I tried a few pre-op and some after. I've returned some to GNC- just horrible smell and taste. unjury has been my friend thus far. They sell a sample pack- great investment. I don't like artificial strawberry flavors and theirs was pretty good. The chocolate splendor as well. I mix the unflavored in all kinds of stuff. 1/2 scoop here, 1/2 scoop there and I don't taste it. I think I am going to order their Vitamins next. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
