gowalking 10,790 Posted September 28, 2015 I'm not so naive to think that this article isn't somewhat skewed as most are. It's easy to tweak statistics to ensure a certain outcome, but I hope to see more and more articles and discussions like this. Especially powerful is the comparison to other attempts to improve oneself with very very poor outcomes. Maybe then one day, not so many people will think that we just have to walk away from the table or fat shame us in a million different ways. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ocean-robbins/the-truth-about-governor-_b_8198498.html?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000592
OKCPirate 5,323 Posted September 28, 2015 Came across as a sales job from the Susceptibility scale author. Christie's problems are numerous, he's an impulsive bully...but heck watch the GOP debates and draw your own conclusion.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted September 29, 2015 I agree, a little too much like a sales pitch. But, I do agree that the obesity epidemic is caused in a large part by the fact that our modern world is completely different from the world we evolved in. The differences are numerous. Now, unhealthy food is plentiful and cheap. We don't experience feast and famine cycles. The industrial food complex is geared to feeding large numbers of people for a profit and without regard to need or nutrition. Our brains are wired to prepare for famine. Etc. Etc. If you have noticed no longer are the poor thin and under nourished. The poorer population is also now the larger population! They are still undernourished but now they are obese as well. It is cheaper to buy unhealthy junk food than it is to purchase healthy food. An apple is more expensive in some area's than a candy bar. Processed meals are cheaper than fresh meat and vegetables. Very sad indeed.
