When don't start adding....

When do I start adding nuts in ur diet, my doctor has me on very strict soft food diet (I'm 4 weeks out) and now I'm on regular diet, which his paperwork he gave me doesn't say anything but to add Fruits with no skin and soft cooked veggies. I hate asking him because he acts like "why u don't need that"& has an attitude, I don't want to deal with it. I tried peanuts today and my tummy enjoyed them wasn't a problem so I was just wondering when every started. Thank u!!

For some people eggs are a problem, others beef or chicken. I eat fruits and many vegetables but meat Proteins are some work. I have to really eat slow and only 1 oz. for beef/chicken/fish. I have not tried nuts, they have too much carb and fat for the calories. I'm not sure about peanuts, but I think they have even more carbs and less Protein. When I've done Atkin's in past, I had trouble with portion size on nuts, so I am going to pass until I get to maintenance.

My directions had a sheet that said "To Maximize Weight Loss The Following Foods Should Be Avoided". One of the foods listed was Nuts.

There are 2 phases after weight loss surgery. These are the "Weight Loss" phase and the "Maintenance" phase. I am 28 months post-op from RNY surgery. I was in the "Weight Loss" phase for about 6-7 months. The length of this phase will vary by individual. It is not a good idea to eat nuts until you reach the "Maintenance" phase. It is probably a good idea to exclude nuts from your diet for the first year after surgery, then you can begin to reintegrate them back into your diet.

Be really careful with nuts. Specifically peanuts. They don't really digest and I didn't chew them well enough and got a small piece stuck (and that was at 3 months). Now it got stuck because I had a stricture but my Dr said not nuts. I was confused because I thought it was a good Protein source but now I think I will just avoid.

sounds like you are having problems with two issues

your NUT and you nuts

how crazy of your NUT to expect you know everything at 4 weeks :angry:

at any time you might/probably still have questions

that's what he's there for

any kind of doc/NUT shouldn't give you attitude

shouldn't make you afraid to ask a question

that's what he's there for :angry:

"maybe" talk to your NUT about your issue

telling YOUR feelings

hopefully you will start a good conversation

NUT might have 2nd thoughts about how

he treats you and other people in general

i am sorry but i don't remember when you can start having nuts

they do have Protein

but maybe carbs are too many??

not sure :blink:

and more in the future

your NUT should give you a specific time

and in general take a chill pill and be nice

Oh ok I'll stay away from the nuts lol I'm just super bored with what I'm eating and I wanted to mix it up a bit. Plus I miss the crunch, but I'll suck it up. I'm going to try going to a dietitian maybe they can help me also. Thank u guys!!

I am 8 weeks post opt from RNY surgery and my diet is seafood (no shrimps) and now he added poultry, all vegetables and eggs. I don't know anything about nuts/peanuts that will not be on my sheet for a long while I was told.

I'm 6 months post op and eat nuts as a snack. They may be high in calories and fat but it's good fat especially cashews, almonds and pistachios. Plus a decent amount of Protein. I just always measure out one serving so as not to overeat. More than 1 oz and too many calories. I think I started adding nuts back at about 3 months.

At 8 weeks I began eating nuts and yes, my Nut approved. They have excellent Protein and good fats.

Yes they have a higher calorie count but I was told not to focus on calories but to focus on Protein.< /p>

It is important not to sit and graze on them but give yourself a serving and track it in Myfitnesspal.

I eat nuts almost everyday. I also eat beef jerkey and full fat cheese. It took a bit longer to be able to eat beef jerkey but it has excellent protein and as long as you are getting more than 64 ounces of Water it is a good snack.< /p>

I drink more than 64 ounces and it flushes the salt from my system so I have been told to increase my salt intake. Jerkey can be pretty salty.

I drink 64oz exactly it takes so long to drink, I hate crystal light stuff, I hate fake sugar, but I started putting lemon in it and I drink a lot more and I've tried the turkey Jerky and that went down ok but that was a one time thing. meat has been really hard to eat it grosses me out sometimes but I try to eat it at least once a day 2oz but I eat Beans and cottage cheese and yogurt, cheese stick. My calories range from 500-700 but I was told also not to worry to much about that just Protein and low fat.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...
